This studio photoshoot for Iuno focused primarily on garment textures and bodily poise. Metallic hardware makes up a significant portion of this ensemble; the golden armor plates across the chest and arms reflected light intensely under studio strobes, requiring considerable effort to polish and refine beforehand. Blue hair can easily appear flat against solid-colored studio cycloramas, so with every lighting pass, we deliberately feathered down one side to sculpt dimensional depth, while smoothing and detangling the gradient tips took up substantial prep time as well.
During shooting, a white cylindrical podium was utilized as an elevated platform. Standing atop it required not only maintaining balance, but also managing the natural, fluid drape of the blue-and-white trailing ribbons behind me. To highlight the garment's tailoring and leg contours, I explored multiple seated postures. Fastening the leg straps proved to be a real test: the tension had to be dialed in just right—loose enough to preserve healthy circulation, yet snug enough to project crisp, symmetrical geometric lines before the lens. The stiletto heels on the sandals were relatively high and rigid, requiring frequent calf stretches between takes to keep my stance organic and graceful.
In terms of choreographing movement, I leaned into hand gestures to direct visual focus. Touching the hair ornaments, resting my cheek against one palm, or turning the back of my hand toward the camera all introduced subtle visual tension without disrupting the overall silhouette. For the lighting setup, the photographer employed a relatively punchy key light to make the metallic armor gleam, complemented by soft side fill to carve out subject contours, rendering the contrast between white textiles and golden hardware sharp and distinct.
The robe features an asymmetrical, irregular hemline that wrinkled easily when walking or sitting down, demanding continuous straightening of the drape before every take. The inner black safety shorts provided dependable coverage, freeing me from modesty concerns when executing leg extensions and dynamic reaches. Although the metal breastplate across the bodice looked striking, its edges were somewhat rigid, requiring extra care when sitting to avoid pinching.
Overall, this ensemble boasts formidable expressive power in static frames; the interplay between metallic gleam and flowing fabric drape creates an elegant dialogue. By relaxing into the postures with the aid of staging props, we captured balanced, cohesive compositions. Because broad movements easily disordered the wig and ribbons, frequent pauses were necessary to reset them. The beauty of a studio shoot lies in consistent, repeatable lighting free of weather interruptions, allowing total focus on refining poses and polishing nuances—with the final textural finish living up closely to expectations.
