On Furina's actual birthday, I specifically chose my favorite photo from the set to share. This was a wonderful collaboration with photographer @Shouchang, who is truly such a sincere professional—from pre-shoot discussions to the actual session, communicating ideas felt completely effortless and natural. He intentionally saved this most beautiful shot to release today as a birthday tribute, which holds profound sentimental meaning for me as a cosplayer. Happy Birthday, Furina!
For this Furina: Letter from the Deep Sea styling, we aimed to capture the crisp elegance and regal magnificence unique to the Hydro deity while staying faithful to the lore. Let's start with the styling details: the wig was chosen in a delicate ice-blue tone, which, combined with well-defined layered bangs and side locks fluttering naturally, evokes an airy lightness akin to flowing water. The dark wide-brimmed hat trimmed with delicate lace along the rim and the signature crescent moon ornament on the side elevated the character's mysterious aura to the fullest. What captivated me most was the pair of long velvet-textured gloves—their deep navy hue carried a subtle velvety sheen, while the diamond-shaped gems sparkled with crystalline blue brilliance under the studio lights, achieving very satisfying fidelity in this Furina cosplay.
For makeup, I deliberately accentuated fair porcelain skin and bright blue eyes, striving to express that slightly detached, haughty, yet subtly lonely demeanor. I loved the textural contrast of the costume: the upper body features an off-the-shoulder dark waist-cinching silhouette trimmed with white lace at the neckline, while the skirt incorporates voluminous layers of lightweight, semi-translucent white tulle to evoke the undulating motion of ocean waves. During the shoot, we spread the white tulle skirt across the black floor, creating a stark, luminous black-and-white contrast against the white plush rug underneath. The studio was quite chilly and posing barefoot on the rug while maintaining graceful, relaxed postures was freezing, but maintaining poised facial expressions was essential for the shot.
Special thanks go to Shouchang for his masterful control over studio lighting. He utilized high-contrast directional rim backlighting to cast gorgeous highlight contours across the tips of the hair, shoulder lines, and the ruffled edges of the white tulle dress. This dark background + luminous edge technique aligned flawlessly with the theme in this Cosplay photography session. His professional attitude was genuinely inspiring; throughout the shoot, he patiently adjusted camera angles and lights so I could showcase the character's posture with complete confidence. In a busy schedule, meeting a photographer with aligned aesthetics and genuine dedication is rare, and I deeply cherish the outcome of this set.
Character designs in Genshin Impact are always full of intricate brilliance. Being able to present her ornate and mysterious allure on Furina's birthday through this cosplay and high-quality photography was a deeply fulfilling creative journey. May this freeze-frame of light, shadow, and costume craftsmanship allow fellow fans to feel the divine grace of the Hydro Archon.
