Recreating this outfit with traditional Chinese elements in a Traditional Chinese-style selfie studio was actually a much more meticulous process than I imagined. The light blue hair color paired with the signature horn shape, combined with this modified black, white, and blue costume, coordinates beautifully within the warm yellow Chinese-style setting, evoking a sense of serenity that transcends time.

Let's start with the makeup and hair. When styling the wig, I spent a long time trimming the bangs and adjusting the fluffiness of the hair, striving for distinct layers with a natural, slightly messy feel. The black, red-bottomed spiral horn ornaments on the head are extremely important, as they determine the overall recognizability of the character; during placement, I had to ensure they were securely and straightly fixed to avoid any jarring look in the photos. For makeup, I chose a rather cool blue-gray eyeshadow to echo the hair tones while emphasizing the curliness of the eyelashes and the definition of the lips, making my facial features stand out more three-dimensionally in front of the lens.

The layered design of the costume is a major highlight of this look. The inner black off-the-shoulder top outlines the shoulder and neck lines, while the outer white collar combines with a golden bell pendant, offering both classical charm and agility. The wide lantern sleeves on the arms feature a white-and-blue gradient patchwork with geometric cuts at the cuffs; this asymmetric structure makes the display of movements even more flowy. During shooting, I was always carefully arranging the shape of the sleeves to ensure they wouldn't look overly bulky. Wearing black fingerless gloves on my hands, paired with black tights featuring golden patterns on the thighs, and topped off with red cords tied around the ankles, the overall look achieves a wonderful balance between warm and cold tones.

This session mainly leveraged several realistic scenes inside the studio, especially the Chinese-style study and the tea-tasting area. The wooden tables and chairs, primitive screens, blue-and-white porcelain vases, and calligraphy scrolls hanging on the wall all added a profound cultural heritage to the frame. To blend into this atmosphere, I interacted with two props: a bamboo flute and a calligraphy brush. While playing the bamboo flute, the red cord and jade pendant tied to the body of the flute served as excellent finishing touches; paired with the long lanterns behind me, it beautifully captured a very soft rim light on my face. On the other hand, the shot where I held the calligraphy brush before the low table while resting my chin on my hand in deep thought perfectly showcased the character's introspective and calm side.

Regarding the use of light and shadow, these few photos did not rely on direct illumination from high-power flash units; instead, artificial lighting was manually built using the warm-colored continuous lamps and candles in the scene. The shadows cast by the ambient light gave better three-dimensional definition to the contours of my face, while the warm yellow tones made the cool, light-blue hair look soft and welcoming. Bamboo leaves or tea sets in the foreground acted as a frame for the image, making the overall layers distinct. In the studio shooting against a pure white background, the focus shifted toward showcasing the structure of the costume itself and the geometric lines on the body, where the pure base color made the physical body language stand out more prominently.

In terms of action design and emotional control, this outfit leans more toward showcasing a calm and relaxed state. Whether half-reclining on a futon cushion or sitting on a wooden chair playing the bamboo flute, I hoped to transmit an effortless ambient vibe. Cooperating with the photographer's angle adjustments throughout this Cosplay photography session, although the makeup and hair underwent a few twists and turns, the final visual outcome truly combined classical and fantasy elements in a very enduringly beautiful way. This Shanghai photoshoot booking recorded many of my favorite moments; from lifting the brush to blowing the flute, every single frame is deeply memorable.
