The relaxed, welcoming atmosphere at the Taishan Fate Season convention gave me ample time to adjust my mindset and fully embody Ganyu from Genshin Impact. A great deal of effort went into pre-shoot preparation. In terms of wardrobe, the dark brown form-fitting bodysuit is quite demanding on figure, so I began strict dietary management half a month in advance. The white skirt with gold trim around the waist features embroidered patterning with wonderful tactile texture. The most eye-catching accents were definitely the iridescent holographic sleeves and that iconic large golden bell; to secure the bell firmly, I added concealed snaps inside to keep it from shifting while walking around the hall. The black-and-red horned headpiece looks gorgeous, but wearing it for extended periods felt quite tight and somewhat restricted my neck movement.
For makeup, to accentuate the 2D anime feel, the base was applied clean and bright, with prime focus devoted to the eyes. Purple contact lenses were the soul of the look, paired with soft light-blue eyeshadow blending to give her gaze a tranquil, aloof demeanor, while slender false lashes enlarged the eyes naturally. Trimming and sculpting the wig was a massive undertaking: the curves of the bangs and side locks were adjusted repeatedly and set with hairspray to ensure they stayed pristine all day. Applying the golden stripe decals onto my thighs was equally meticulous, taking nearly an hour to align seamlessly with my muscle contours.
The outdoor sunlight was very intense that day, and the photographer was remarkably skilled at finding the right angles. We communicated at length about poses to project the character's temperament. When standing, I intentionally shifted my weight onto one leg while lifting the other slightly; this posture visually elongated leg proportions, and paired with the sculpting effect of the black Stockings, injected dynamic tension and visual allure into the frame. The folding fan was an excellent accessory—the half-veiled face gesture added mystery while hiding any fleeting moments of fatigue. There was also a pose with both hands resting behind my head; while it looked effortless, my arms were constantly engaged to highlight the neck and collarbone lines cleanly, all while holding my core tight to prevent waist laxity, meaning every still was backed by silent effort.
I also tried kneeling poses on the ground, which demanded meticulous garment styling to let the skirt drape naturally without awkward leg bunching. With heavy foot traffic, passersby occasionally stepped into the frame, but the photographer handled it masterfully with wide-aperture background bokeh. Posing under the bright sun on the street certainly caused sweat, and the wig and layers felt stuffy, but seeing the shots appear on the camera screen made every bit of effort worthwhile. Conventions are not just places for shopping—they are stages to celebrate shared passions. Gathering with so many people who love the same title is genuinely filled with joy.
