Serving as stage management for the club anniversary, how is that not a form of excellent tactical planning?

Today, during our anime club activities for the Tsinghua University Student Next-Generation Anime Club's anniversary event, my main job was managing the stage lineup at the wings, and I took the opportunity to put together this cosplay outfit that I've been assembling piece by piece. This outfit is actually quite interesting; strictly speaking, it's a bit of a "Frankenstein" creation—the top belongs to the Fugue skin, the belt's tail was borrowed from EW's, and the gloves and knee pads on my hands were pieced together using mercenary tactical accessories. Thanks to everyone in the club exchanging and supporting each other, we managed to piece together this entire look.

The greatest joy of wearing this kind of tactical style for events is that it genuinely gives you a sense of character immersion. Watching the storyline before, I always thought the operators' tactical movements looked extremely cool, but wearing it yourself now feels completely different. Once you put this on, walking around, bending over, or raising your arms in the venue will be restricted by the outfit, but it's precisely this sense of restraint that allows me to better understand the character's state on the battlefield. Communicating at the stage wings with a walkie-talkie today felt like a perfect integration with the club celebration atmosphere. Honestly, the performances and program schedules of the other students on stage were very tight. When I was coordinating between the wings and the backstage, pressing down on the walkie-talkie button and whispering notifications, it didn't feel like logistics at all; instead, it felt like I was genuinely receiving tactical commands.

The process of putting together this outfit is also well worth recording. The black short-sleeve shirt I chose was for ease of movement and is relatively lightweight. But things like those tactical gloves and knee pads were indeed to restore that mercenary trait. Wearing gloves for a long time makes my palms sweat, and holding the walkie-talkie for a while makes it a bit slippery, but this real physical feedback instead gives today's photos a more grounded, slice-of-life feel. The texture of the tail section was handled quite well; although it occasionally tangled with the black straps on the side of my leg when walking, it was easy to adapt after a slight adjustment, so there was no need to worry about any mishaps at the celebration site.

The overall lighting today wasn't very stable. I took two full-body photos in front of the hallway mirror (Photo 2); although the composition is just a regular mirror selfie, it still captured that sharp, ready-to-go feel of an operator heading out for a mission. Since our club's venue is inside the building and the floor is just ordinary ceramic tile without any highly complex backdrops, as long as your own makeup and styling are on point, it still looks quite sharp. The job of stage management sounds simple, but you have to hit precise time slots and coordinate performers getting on and off the stage, requiring you to be even more familiar with the program flow and durations than the performers themselves. Exhausting as it is, seeing the event progress smoothly makes holding down this post while wearing a full set of tactical gear feel incredibly meaningful.

If any friends want to try putting out this type of tactical clothing cosplay outfit, my personal advice is that you must prioritize wearability. Some exaggerated props are indeed very cool, but if you are going to a convention or a club anniversary like mine today where you need to walk around a lot and handle tasks, comfort comes first. Although this outfit of mine was pieced together from accessories of different characters, because the cuts lean towards casual and athletic styles, the wearing experience is much more friendly, making for a great cosplay costume sharing topic. When it comes to cosplay, different people have different ways to play; some pursue the ultimate accuracy, while others enjoy the process of collecting and combining—I lean towards the latter. Being able to gather the miscellaneous props from the club into a look I approve of and wear it to handle the stage management logistics for the celebration—this experience itself is the greatest harvest of the day.
