[Columbina Cosplay] Genshin Impact outdoor shoot reuniting with the Marionette in a European-style manor

Today, my partner and I completed an outdoor photoshoot for the duo combination of Columbina and the Marionette from Genshin Impact.

To match the temperament of these two characters, we specially selected a classical European-style manor featuring Roman columns and forged iron stairs. The white hollowed-out iron art benches and lawn in the venue wonderfully set off that fantasy-infused elegant and retro feel unique to Genshin Impact.

Our main scenes today had two parts: one was laying a white plush carpet on the grass to shoot some more interactive and relaxed reclining poses; the other was at the corner of the forged iron stairs, utilizing the architectural structure and light and shadow to shoot some more spatial standing or sitting interactions. My partner handled the details of the wig and earrings very well. My role as Columbina mainly featured a white and blue intertwined sheer gauze dress, plus a white feather headpiece, with strappy flat sandals on my feet; while my partner playing the Marionette wore a white-and-black alternating top, paired with a dark red gradient short skirt and white over-the-knee stockings, stepping in black-and-red matching small leather shoes. This cool-and-warm color matching created a gorgeous color contrast under the natural sunlight, and the splicing of different materials on the costumes, along with the ethereal feel brought by the semi-transparent tulle, were just illuminated through by the outdoor natural light, presenting clear layering.

The biggest difference between outdoor shooting and studio shooting is that you have to fight with natural light at any time. The weather was actually pretty good that day, but the midday overhead light was very strong, so we had to frequently adjust our shooting angles during the shoot, utilizing the shadows of buildings and plants to find soft ambient diffuse light. White stockings are actually a pain point that gets dirty easily during outdoor real shoots. To keep the frames clean, the two of us repeatedly checked for any grass clippings and dust that might have adhered to our clothes before shooting. Throughout the process, the interference of mosquitoes and insects was also a quite headache-inducing minor episode, but fortunately, the final photos turned out exceptionally translucent.

In terms of action interactions, we tried relatively relaxed daily-style poses. For example, the crossed-leg sitting poses on the ground and benches, as well as the casual feeling of leaning against each other while lying on the blanket, which could express that deep bond between the two, perfectly matching the reunion atmosphere conveyed by the phrase mentioned in the post description: "Being able to see you again, I am truly happy." Those standing near the iron art stairs utilized foreground obstruction and the depth of the building to make the frame look more layered.

In fact, every time doing an outdoor shoot for characters with somewhat complex accessories and heavy skirt trains, the time spent on logistics transportation and wearing basically exceeds the few seconds of pressing the shutter, but seeing the moment when light and shadow fall on the skirt trains and characters' faces in the raw photos, it all becomes worthwhile. Overall, this was a very relaxed shooting experience, without deliberately posing in hardcore frozen stances, pursuing more of that atmospheric feel of characters naturally getting along.

Although today's outfit was for an outdoor shoot in summer, the puffiness of the skirt was just right and not too stuffy, and this styling with a high waistline and short skirt design could also visually elongate body proportions very well. Another reassuring thing was that the European-style manor scouted this time unexpectedly matched the restoration degree of some scenes in Genshin Impact, so the post-processing of the photos didn't require too much environmental modification and composition, already possessing a strong sense of immersion. We also captured a few dynamic shots of the gentle breeze blowing the skirt hems and hair strands, as outdoor photography is always filled with these random little surprises.

This high-quality Genshin Impact cosplay and my partner's tacit cooperation can indeed make a set of photos come alive, avoiding any stereotyped template feel. Brainstorming wildly to restore scenes together with anime-loving Columbina x Sandrone circle friends was truly a very fulfilling afternoon. I hope this batch of finished photos can also restore the aesthetic yet somewhat mysterious Marionette and Columbina in everyone's minds.
