[Raiden Shogun & Yae Miko Cosplay] Genshin Impact: Inazuma Tea Party

The bond between Raiden Shogun and Yae Miko in Genshin Impact is a storyline that many fans absolutely adore. This time, I arranged a photoshoot themed around Inazuma Japanese style cosplay with my partner @纨绔不wanku, where I cosplayed Yae Miko and she played Raiden Shogun. We shot two sets with completely different atmospheres: one featuring the tension of clashing blades, and the other a peaceful tea party—both felt true to the impression these characters left on me in the game.

Let's talk about costume and styling preparation first. Yae Miko's pink wig was something I styled myself step by step. It has plenty of volume, smooth texture, and natural hair flow, which paired with the golden butterfly metal ornament and purple gem hairpieces on top instantly creates high character recognition. My partner's Raiden Shogun look featured long dark purple straight hair with wisteria-shaped hair ornaments, keeping the red cord tie detail around the neck, plus dark gray mesh undersleeves beneath the kimono coat for rich visual layering. In terms of makeup, to match our characters' aura, I chose light blue-purple contact lenses with pink-orange lipstick to add liveliness, while my partner used purplish-red eye makeup and cool-toned lenses for a more composed, sharp look.

The first image is a confrontation posture with a sword. I lay back on the tatami, fully stretched out, as the hem of my white and red modified Japanese kimono spread out naturally. My partner held a finely crafted sheathed katana with clear ribbon-wrapping details on the hilt; she held the sword vertically beside her with one hand while gently cupping my cheek with the other. This subtle physical closeness paired with weapon-based tension produced a wonderful contrast. To hold this pose, we adjusted angles repeatedly—she needed to stabilize her center of gravity while I had to relax my neck and shoulder muscles completely, demanding immense mutual trust.

The second picture, which I consider ideal as the main feature cover, moved the scene to a dark wooden low table with a pair of ceramic Japanese teacups. Sitting upright, I gently held a teacup in front of my chest while looking into the camera, with my collarbone and necklines naturally displayed at the collar of my white kimono, showing the refined golden emblem decoration on my chest. Sitting slightly behind me, my partner also held a small teacup, her legs in black tights subtly visible between the folds of her purple-blue kimono hem. This tea break scene looked both intimate and closely tied to the long-standing silent understanding shared between the Narukami pair.

The shooting process was much more chaotic than the final photos suggest. Because we had to lean against each other in a cramped tatami area, the photographer spent almost the entire time lying on the floor shooting upward, making their legs completely numb. To capture flowing hair effects, we set up two high-powered industrial fans blowing at full strength. When the wind blew hard, wigs swept across our faces, making us burst into laughter; during behind-the-scenes footage, both of our expressions completely broke under the wind. Yet it was precisely these repeated adjustments and genuine moments that made the final work feel natural and unforced.

It is clear that both Genshin Impact itself and cosplay as a subculture allow everyone to appreciate character depth more closely. Raiden Shogun seems distant yet possesses a soft heart inside, while Yae Miko appears playful yet protects Inazuma in her own way. Selecting daily-style kimonos instead of battle armor allowed us to present that everyday atmosphere of drinking tea and chatting peacefully under the Sacred Sakura or inside Tenshukaku.
