[Furina cosplay] Genshin Impact Water God Furina Birthday Celebration: Collection of Furina in Different Looks

I compiled all the photos of Furina cosplay I shot over the past year and finally released this collection just in time for her birthday. From my first attempt at this Genshin Impact character last year to now, I've shot five completely different looks, each corresponding to a different mindset and scene—acting as a small summary of my personal journey over the past year.

The first set is an ice and deep-sea style uniform look. The dark blue and white patchwork combined with gold trim and that iconic mini top hat give the overall design a magical feel. To create the effect of ice crystals and glowing vines, heavy cool-toned single-source lighting was used on-site, and the edges were intentionally darkened during color grading in post to highlight a deep, mysterious atmosphere. This set actually really tested my facial contours because the hard lighting cast obvious shadows, but thankfully my base makeup was clean enough that day, so the result turned out refreshingly cool.

The second set is the Halloween Gothic style, which is a personal favorite of mine. A black patent leather top paired with a layered tier skirt, a pair of small bat wings on the back, plus a pair of black thigh-high stockings (black stockings cosplay) and chunky lace-up boots—dark yet playful. Jack-o'-lanterns, skeleton cages, and candles were placed in the scene, where warm yellow firelight and cool-toned makeup formed a strong dramatic contrast. I am particularly satisfied with the composition here; sitting centered on a high stool allowed the leg lines to extend nicely, while the glossy sheen of the black stockings appeared especially delicate under the flash. However, styling the wig took some extra effort, as the blue gradient at the ends needed to match the dark aesthetic without being too bright, requiring a slight saturation tweak in post.

The third set is a starry night-themed dress—a dark blue velvet strapless dress with golden leaf embroidery on the chest and an exquisite crown atop the head. The biggest highlight of this look is the translucent blue tulle arm sleeves and leg straps, which fluttered gracefully as I moved. The background was a pure black backdrop sprinkled with white dots simulating the Milky Way, and heavy facial fill lighting with flash was used during shooting, preserving skin texture exceptionally well. I feel this set is more elegant and noble in style, though perhaps due to lighter makeup and fewer dynamic poses, the overall feel is slightly quiet—nevertheless, it holds great commemorative value as part of the birthday set.

The fourth set is an afternoon tea maid outfit in blue and white with a white apron, a sapphire pendant at the collar, white lace calf-high socks, and bow-adorned shoes. The shooting environment for this set was the most comfortable—set in a garden with rattan chairs and wooden trays, holding macarons and drinks, making the scene feel full of everyday life. I tried sweeter eye makeup for this look, but due to my face shape, it looked a little unnatural in post. I adjusted the edits repeatedly, still feeling it lacked naturalness; if given the chance in the future, I'll shoot a new version closer to the original character setup.

The final set is a white tulle fairy style, featuring a layered puff dress with light tulle fabric, a blue hair ornament clipped to one side of the hair, sitting on a white swing surrounded by blooming white flowers. The lighting for this set was the brightest among all five, even approaching overexposure in highlights, but I felt this soft-focus haze fit the character's airy lightness perfectly. The overall color palette leans cool white, forming a stark contrast with the previous sets and serving as a fresh closing shot.

Looking back at this past year, I tried many different makeup structures and post-editing techniques to recreate this character, discovering my own shortcomings along the way. A few of the makeup looks didn't quite suit me, leaving the final photos feeling slightly off—perhaps my eye or face shape doesn't fully align with those exaggerated anime proportions. So if there's any regret, it's that I haven't been able to produce the absolute most perfect version of Furina yet. But since her birthday is here, I'm sharing these completed pieces as a record of my passion during this period.

Finally, Happy Birthday, Furina, our Queen of All Waters, All Kin, and All Laws, the great Lady Furina! Whether it's the deep blue of the ocean, the brilliance of the starry sky, or an afternoon in the garden, every single posture is worth cherishing. In the days ahead, if I get the chance, I will re-challenge and re-shoot those looks I wasn't fully satisfied with, striving to bring everyone more mature makeup and more expressive performances. And so, a slightly delayed birthday gift to Furina, as well as to all the props and wigs that have accompanied me through all this effort.
