[Haniyasushin Keiki cosplay] Touhou Project Wuhan THO 09: Convention Photos, Prop Details, and Shooting Insights

The retouching for my Haniyasushin Keiki convention photos taken at Wuhan THO 09 is finally finished.

The color contrast of this costume is remarkably bold, with vibrant yellow, dark green, and bright blue color-blocking acting as the visual core. The yellow inner top fabric features a crinkled sheen, accented by exquisite gold-trimmed cuffs. The dark green overskirt is adorned with fine, subtle jacquard patterns; keeping the bright green ruffled hem volumetric and dimensional took considerable care and arranging during the shoot. The blue pockets have a sleek, smooth finish that adds distinct depth. The dark green headscarf paired with bright blue short hair serves as the character's iconic trademark, while the red contact lenses give the gaze an intense, sharp edge.

The most pivotal props during the shoot were the pencils held between my fingers, and managing the poses was much harder than anticipated. Pencils slip easily, so keeping them clamped tightly required firm finger tension, and the perspective compositions in the first three shots really tested shoulder flexibility. The most challenging snapshot of the entire set was the full-body photo in picture four—balancing on one leg while controlling the flare of the skirt, all while maintaining center of gravity and facial composure. It took countless takes to capture that effortlessly dynamic motion. The blue strappy high heels were tied securely, and standing for prolonged shooting was genuinely tiring.

The convention hall lighting was chaotic; ambient light often washes out details on high-saturation reflective fabrics. Fortunately, photographer Orange Marmalade handled lighting with great skill, keeping broad harsh glare under control so that the colors of the blue hair and yellow top stayed pure. For post-processing, I personally edited some quirky, budget-friendly effects mimicking ZUN's art style—black silhouettes and flame motifs combined with the authentic ZUN style infused the photos with playful humor. Sincere thanks to Hecatia the Commander for coordination and support, making the entire shooting workflow run seamlessly. Embodying this character—from styling nuances to editing experiments—proved to be an immensely enjoyable and fun ACGN sharing experience.
