This Genshin Impact Columbina Cosplay photoshoot finally brought to life that ethereal feeling with giant pure white wings that I had envisioned. For this look, the most effort went into the synergy between the makeup and the wig. To better match her exotic and mysterious aura, the white painted pattern at the left corner of my eye was meticulously outlined brushstroke by brushstroke using an ultra-fine brush. Paired with long dark purple hair featuring bright purple highlights and fluffy rabbit ears, a dreamlike atmosphere was instantly created.

For the costume, lightweight white fabric was chosen, adorned with blue ties and metallic trim at the collar and cuffs. The skirt flowed gracefully when walking, interacting beautifully with the wings behind. However, the main attraction—the pair of huge white wings—was definitely the most challenging part of the shoot. Not only did it have complex layering, but its skeleton and weight far exceeded expectations. On set, we had to repeatedly adjust the wire positioning to ensure the wings spread at an angle that felt natural while dominating the frame. Luckily, in the final shots, the fluffiness of the feathers looks fantastic, catching rim light along the soft edges under backlighting, which, combined with falling feather effects, creates a powerful visual impact.

For the background, a dark blue flower field was chosen as the foreground. These blue-toned, lily-of-the-valley-textured flowers, combined with the deep blue night sky and full moon, set off Columbina's cool, aloof, and sacred vibe perfectly. The giant crescent aura behind me was achieved on location using set pieces and lighting effects, with post-processing blending light and shadow so the glow merged seamlessly with the character's edge without looking artificially cut out.

Additionally, the glowing white fairy on the right side of the image was actually a physical prop. Placing it among the flowers not only embellished the left side of the composition but also added a touch of dynamic life to the scene. Shooting a character with high-fantasy elements, the biggest challenge isn't the posing, but managing emotions. You can't smile too sweetly, nor can you be entirely expressionless; you need to enter that state drifting between reality and dreams, with eyes bearing a touch of gentleness and helplessness. You have to immerse yourself in this feeling before the shutter clicks.

Although holding poses among flowers wearing heavy wing props was exhausting—and keeping constant watch not to crush flowers or stain the skirt with dirt was tough—seeing the light effects come together on the monitor made all the hard work worthwhile.
