[Gongsun Li Cosplay] A Bunny-Eared Girl Blooming in the Spring Sea of Flowers in Chang'an

When shooting this Gongsun Li set, it happened to be right when the spring flowers in Chang'an were in full bloom. The branches filled the sky, and to capture the effect of being completely surrounded by a sea of blossoms, the photographer "Lande Quming" and I put in a lot of effort. Just as I joked in my caption, the cherry blossom trees were so tall that I had to climb up a ladder just to have some interaction with the flowers. The photographer was also perched up there holding the camera for ages; during framing, they kept telling me to lower my posture a bit, which honestly tested my core strength.

Today, I want to talk in detail about the costume, hair, and makeup. This grey blazer uniform has a wonderful texture, paired with a white shirt and a dark blue tie. The cuffs feature gold buttons with fold-over details, and the collar is adorned with a chic metallic diamond accessory, giving off a strong academic aesthetic. To match this vibe, I asked the makeup artist to keep the look as light and natural as possible—no heavy contouring or thick eyeliner, just warm pink eyeshadow softly blended to accentuate the brightness in the eyes. The wig is a light golden-pink, braided along the sides and ends, accented with translucent pink flower hair clips. Blended together, these details look clean under cool light and give off a soft, gentle glow under warm light.

The fluffy bunny ears turned out surprisingly well on camera. They had plenty of volume and swayed gracefully in the outdoor breeze, though the downside was that they collected dust easily. To keep them looking fluffy in the photos, I spent quite a while combing through them on-site with a small brush. The shoot took place in the afternoon, with sunlight filtering through the blossoms in a crisp backlight, creating a soft, halo-like glow around the edges of my hair and bunny ears. To bring the color tone closer to that warm, blissful feeling of Chang'an spring, we used a wide aperture during shooting for smooth foreground blur. In post-processing, the reddish shadows were corrected to preserve the delicate pink of the cherry blossoms, while enhancing a clear, natural skin tone without over-smoothing, preserving the original texture.

The biggest challenge during this shoot was actually controlling the angles. The formal design of the tie and collar restricted my head movement, so I had to constantly check whether the tie was crooked every time I adjusted my pose. Additionally, light-colored hair easily tangles in the outdoor wind, so my assistant was on standby the whole time with a comb. For this style of cosplay, compared to extravagant ballgowns or oversized props, wearing a character-inspired casual uniform actually requires much more subtlety in capturing expression and emotion. Without relying on dynamic poses or heavy visual effects, it all comes down to conveying the character's lively and radiant spirit through the eyes.

Even though climbing the ladder was exhausting, seeing the final shots through the blossoms made every bit of effort worth it. The harmony of spring and this outfit was beautifully captured in time. For me, creating a new cosplay set isn't just about putting on a costume and a wig; it's about making the most of the lovely spring weather to fully showcase my best state and the intended atmosphere of the piece.
