[Gongsun Li Cosplay] Bunny-Eared Maid from Honor of Kings, Charm Beneath the Red Umbrella

I really love the cut and color scheme of this Gongsun Li Maid outfit. The overall palette features red, orange, and white. A relatively crisp satin fabric was chosen so it won't easily wrinkle regardless of movement, and its reflective texture looks stunning, bringing out an eye-catching orange-red glow under warm lighting. The little bunny embroidery on the hem is exquisite, accompanied by glittering star accents—details that truly shine with the right lighting and camera angles. Given that it's a Maid outfit design, the generous use of lace and ruffles enhances the overall sweetness of the look. For makeup, I went with bright red contacts paired with deep reddish-pink eyeshadow, extending the eyeliner outward and carefully drawing distinct lower lashes to make the eyes look more spirited, perfectly matching the character's playful and cute charm. Blush was applied slightly high on the cheekbones to create a fuller cheek look. The hair is a long blonde wig. To achieve that fluffy volume, I sprayed plenty of styling hairspray at the roots and blow-dried against the grain, lifting the ponytail high while giving the crown a full shape. The rabbit ears on top are wired so they keep a perfect curve without drooping during the shoot. I also spent a lot of time trimming the bangs to hover just over the eyebrows, giving the eyes an extra touch of vivacity. For the legs, I wore red-and-white color-blocked lace-trimmed thigh-highs. The material is essentially a type of Stockings, offering great elasticity and a snug fit that flatters the leg shape. It gives off that lovely maid vibe while adding a hint of subtle sexiness; the red accents echo the hem of the skirt, creating a visually coherent color palette. The top features an off-the-shoulder cut, paired with a white apron and a red bow tie, which nicely accentuates the lines of the neck and collarbone—which is precisely why I chose this shooting angle. The shoot location was set near Japanese-style architecture. Wooden entryways, Japanese-inscribed signboards, and the warm yellow lights around the storefront created a cozy, vintage atmosphere that matched the costume's aesthetic seamlessly. The red traditional Japanese paper umbrella held in hand was a key prop: with its sturdy ribs, opening it blocked just enough light to create compelling contrasts of light and shadow. Throughout the shoot, whether turning back with the umbrella or sitting down making cute cat paw poses, it was a refreshing experience that required constant attention to the harmony between expression and posture. In the end, candid snapshots of dining at the table turned out the most natural, reminding me that trying more unposed moments next time yields high photo success rates. When it comes to preparation, resizing and tailoring the outfit began well in advance—especially cinching the waist corset just right to balance out the puffy skirt. The red-and-white Stockings had intricate details, so I had to be extremely careful not to snag them while putting them on. The photographer continuously adjusted the lighting throughout the shoot to capture the fabric's best sheen. We took plenty of shots, and as the weather cooled down, enduring the chill in a thin skirt truly tested my stamina. To accurately capture the character's demeanor, I practiced various gazes in front of the mirror, such as glancing down before looking up, or smiling directly into the lens; these micro-expressions breathed real life into the final shots. Although the petticoat was heavy and the corset lacing was tedious to put on and take off, it was all worthwhile to achieve a flawless silhouette.
