Basking in the light and shadow of Firefly Day 2, experiencing Fuuka's daily life as the resident chef. Although the convention venue was bustling with crowds, wearing this black-and-white maid outfit, sporting the iconic glowing red halo, and steadily holding that brightly colored yellow dish prop while posing as if serving a daily meal made me instantly slide into character. The little green dango in my hand has a great texture in person. Combined with the outer apron adorned with ruffles and bows, I've tried my best to recreate the fine details of the original character's everyday life.
The most satisfying part of this costume has to be the red halo on the head and the looped twin-tails on both sides. Paired with white over-the-knee socks and black Mary Jane shoes, the completeness of the entire look was instantly maxed out. This photoshoot mainly featured casual outdoor settings. The gray fabric sofa, the walkway greenery, and the modern glass walls clashed with this black-and-white maid outfit in a very harmonious way. Special thanks to my photographer friend Orange Peel for the patient candid captures. Postures like those in the photos, which require balancing eye contact, prop angles, and maintaining the body's center of gravity, heavily tested the light coordination during snapshot moments. The exclamation "it's so good to have light" perfectly interprets the sunny condition of this location. The natural sunlight filtering through the gaps between leaves and buildings gave the photos a translucent texture that doesn't rely excessively on post-processed artificial lighting.
In fact, the vast majority of players are probably deeply impressed by Fuuka's trait of being passionate about cooking delicious food, so during the shoot, I intentionally enhanced the sense of interaction between "serving food" and "tasting." While holding the platter, I needed to look effortless yet convey the character's unique sense of composure and cuteness. Sharing this set of photos is not just about documenting my Anime cosplay experience at the Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo, but also about conveying the relaxed atmosphere of the character in daily scenes. From every fold of the skirt hem, the ribbons on the cuffs, the subtle patterns on the apron, to the black-and-white paneled edges, I hoped to present them in their best possible state through the light and shadow of this outdoor convention. During convention season, outdoor shoots like this always yield many pleasant surprises between the photographer and me. Being able to integrate a 2D character into real-world light and shadow is inherently a highly healing process. Although walking around in heels all day made my feet quite sore, seeing the final edits made all the hard work feel completely worthwhile.
