[Cirno Cosplay] Touhou Project Ice Fairy: Live from the BW Booth

The booth setup and lighting effects at this BW convention really fit this look perfectly, making the photoshoot much more efficient than expected. As a character role-play share, I had discussed with fellow enthusiasts during the booth setup phase to fully utilize the livery of the blue sports car and the ambient light on site. The final presentation indeed delivers an immersive 2D feel. This ice-blue dress in the photos features lots of layered processing in the details. From the transparent sheer material of the skirt flare to the multi-layered ruffled stacking, and the white cross-lacing at the waist, everything aims to recreate that lightweight and agile feel. The red bow at the neckline is a visual highlight. Combined with the white and blue ruffled sleeve covers and the large bow wig adorned with snowflakes, the cool-and-warm contrast of the overall look is beautifully formed. The three-dimensional tailoring of the upper body, along with the lacing details on the chest, enhances the silhouette while ensuring it doesn't look bulky.

To match the blue and white baseline of the costume, the wig was chosen in a light blue with a pearl-like luster. The bangs were treated to be quite wispy, which beautifully frames the face shape while preserving the character's iconic cuteness. Regarding the makeup, adjustments were made to counter the intense booth lights: the base makeup used a matte texture to avoid reflection, and the eyeshadow emphasized the outer corners of the eyes with layered glitter, which, paired with the bright blue colored contacts, creates a sparkling visual effect under the live venue lights.

The prop matching also took some thought. Aside from the small plush toy in my hand, the most eye-catching feature is actually the transparent iridescent crystal wings on my back. This prism-textured material refracts beautiful colors under the exhibition light source, instantly turning the overall flat image into something three-dimensional. During the shoot, whether holding up the skirt hem alone, carrying the magic-wand-styled prop, or interacting with a partner to do symmetrical movements, this prop played an excellent role in guiding the viewer's gaze. The area around the BW booth was actually highly crowded, with a massive number of onlookers and photographers nearby. Fortunately, the shooting angles we found managed to avoid the cluttered crowd, utilizing the stanchions and the car as a natural background to beautifully highlight the Anime girl herself.

This set of photos is actually part of a teaser for our five-person group shoot. Although only a portion is released now, the overall concept is to merge the character's playfulness with the vibrant atmosphere of the exhibition. Through multiple on-site positioning and pose adjustments, you will find that as long as you grasp the core traits of the character, even in front of a noisy booth, you can still exhibit sufficient character charm through natural expression management. Finally, I am also considering how to better fuse the character's cute points with the real-world scenery of the convention photos, such as taking photos with more tense interactions in front of the hood or leaning against the car body—all of which feel like a professional growth process for me as a cosplayer. The lighting on site was quite complex, with warm light from above and cool reflections from the car body, but this happens to add richer layered details to the frame. I hope this live coverage set of convention photos can let more people feel the fun of this character and the atmospheric presence of the convention.
