Putting on this pink and white patent leather bodysuit, donning the plush bunny headpiece and long silvery-white wavy wig, and standing at the venue of the Azur Lane 9th Anniversary Celebration, I felt as if I were wrapped in some secret magic of the Eagle Union. This time, I finally had the chance to thoroughly execute this bunny girl shooting project for the Fletcher-class destroyer DD-480—Halford. The lighting in the convention hall was actually highly complex; the interwoven high overhead lights and fill-light equipment created shadows of varying depths across the venue. However, under the precise control of photographer 蒲牢411, the glossy texture of the shiny outer bodysuit was perfectly preserved without creating harsh, oily glares under the convention lights. The layers of the translucent tulle were also beautifully restored, forming a wonderful harmony of color and volume with the grey plush bunny beside me that took up more than half of the space.
Regarding the outfit, I truly put a lot of effort into preparing it. Although the pink patent leather bodysuit looks great, it is slightly tight. To prevent creases from long hours of standing, it needed careful adjustment before shooting. The exaggerated lantern sleeves made of large areas of translucent white tulle, adorned with small pink bows along the edges, are the perfect finishing touch. When walking around, the cuffs fluttered with the wind, which not only created a sense of lightness through the airflow but also carried a unique magical visual effect characteristic of anime. What captivated me the most was actually the translucent layered tulle cape draped from the shoulders and back. As it fell onto the stage floor, paired with the thick pure white tights and Mary Jane shoes featuring sequins and bows, it visually elongated my leg lines while focusing everyone's attention on the bow decorations on the legs.
During the shoot, I struck various poses with the help of the prop bunny. The lively pose in Figure 2, standing on one leg with both hands gesturing outward, is a nod to the voice line setting, \"Be careful not to be swallowed by the forbidden power of the rabbit.\" The low-angle shot made the overall look appear both charming and full of playful tension. Meanwhile, choosing to sit on the floor and the carpet in Figures 3 and 4 was meant to showcase the back lines, the tulle skirt's train, and a more direct sense of connection with the camera lens. Shooting at a convention really tests a cosplayer's real-time reactions; we needed to avoid cluttered items and exposed cables behind us in advance. 蒲牢411 kept controlling the composition on-site, striving to use a large aperture to blur the background within the authentic convention environment, making our protagonist stand out with strong cinematic presence.
The makeup and hairstyle were another segment that stays fresh in my memory. To fit the anime tone of the character, I wore pink contact lenses, and the eye makeup featured a pink-and-white blend that matched the hair color, so that under the subsequent complex light and shadow processing, my gaze could maintain a coexistence of sharpness and gentleness. The highly complex headpiece on top of my head included a plush white rabbit, pink ruffles, and black satin bows; to ensure it wouldn't tilt during transitions and posing, we used many snap buttons and bobby pins to secure it. Although my forehead felt a bit sore from being bound tightly throughout the shoot, and I had to maintain a proper expression for several hours while wearing the headpiece, the sense of accomplishment from achieving a near-perfect recreation when the shutter clicked was enough to make up for all the hard work.
During shooting breaks, chatting with fellow fans at the scene also brought a lot of photography inspiration. Honestly, every time I cosplay a character with such a unique design like Halford, it really tests a cosplayer's comprehensive skills. Not only does managing the makeup and wig take a massive amount of time, but dealing with various potential light source reflections when taking photos at a convention also requires real-time communication with the photographer to come up with coping strategies. For someone who loves ACG culture, being able to deliver such a refined presentation at this 9th Anniversary Celebration is inherently a very rewarding experience. Although the venue's background was slightly dim and cluttered, it was precisely this authentic convention environment that made those pink bows and semi-transparent tulle skirts look exceptionally bright and touching. Every time the shutter clicked, it was also a process of me trying my best to convey the unique energy of a Fletcher-class destroyer to the lens. This was a very pleasant collaboration, and I hope this memory of the Eagle Union bunny girl will stay on the negatives for a long time.
