[Nanakusa Nazuna Cosplay] Night of Call of the Night: Stealing a Moment of Ease at Firefly ACG Expo

I had a blast at this Firefly ACG Expo! Special thanks to photographer Xieyang (@贺利斜阳) for shooting this set for me. When I got the convention photos back, I was stunned—I didn't realize that lazy, carefree state could truly be captured so well by the camera. The venue was super crowded that day, filled with lighting setups and queues everywhere, but we managed to find a relatively open corner in the exhibition area. Just then, overhead lighting hit right from above, reflecting off the patent leather material, and the texture immediately felt spot-on.

Speaking of this outfit, the snug fit of patent leather really tests body tolerance. With the halter-neck design, high-waisted shorts, and over-the-knee boots, you definitely need mental preparation regarding breathability and mobility. But once you put it on, the character's signature rebellious vibe naturally flows out. Especially with the smoke prop shots—to create that soft, hazy, and dreamy atmosphere, we tried adjusting the force and direction of blowing smoke several times. The first two shots wasted quite a bit of smoke, but by the third shot with a side-profile glance back, that lazy charm finally hit the mark.

Later when we moved to the staircase area, I casually grabbed a golden aluminum can as a prop. Xieyang told me to just sit on the chair and move around naturally without forcing any stiff poses, which ended up capturing my most relaxed state. In the last shot where I raised my hand, the trench coat naturally slipped, revealing the silver-grey luster of the lining. Combined with the elongated leg lines from the over-the-knee boots, I rewatched it several times before finally deciding to post it. That’s the charm of anime conventions: even in a noisy environment, as long as you find the right angle and lighting, you can distill that moment of character tranquility amidst the bustle.

This was my first official photoshoot for Nanakusa Nazuna from Call of the Night, and also my first time wearing patent leather around such a massive convention. Although it was scorching hot, seeing the final results made it all worth it. While shooting, I kept discussing with the photographer how to bring that surreal "urban night vibe" into a brightly lit day event, and we ultimately decided to use overhead lights and smoke to create contrast. The sheen of patent leather, light pink braids, and silver-grey lining of the trench coat—the collision of these three colors stood out vividly against the dark background. If this provides a bit of inspiration for fellow cosplayers looking for convention shoot ideas, writing this post was well worth it.
