When shooting this set of photos, that line "Even if it's in a dream, it's really good to see you again" kept echoing in my heart. For this Lucy cosplay, from the early preparation to the actual shoot, I spent a lot of effort to recreate the character's sense of technology and her fragile yet determined temperament. The wig is a custom pink-and-blue gradient; to present that clear translucency under cold light, I specially selected a fiber material that mixes matte and gloss tones. In terms of makeup, that touch of blush under the eyes and the upturned eyeliner are the soul, paired with sharp inner eyeliner to give the gaze more piercing power. The choice of garment fabric was crucial: for the black parts, I used high-gloss PVC so it could reflect intense light and shadow under the neon lights, while the white outer piece's lantern sleeves and spliced sleeve covers used a relatively soft stretch fabric to form a textural contrast. The black geometric tattoo on the shoulder was hand-drawn, taking nearly an hour to draw the lines sharply enough; this is not just a decoration, but a visual symbol of the character's backstory.
During the shoot, the pink-purple and cyan-blue neon light tubes in the background were truly the finishing touch. I intentionally had the photographer use the light tubes as the background light while using soft light from the front to illuminate my face, avoiding overexposing the highlights. The weather was very hot at that time, and I started sweating in less than half an hour after putting on this outfit, but when seeing the resulting images, all the hard work felt completely worth it. The theme of this Wuthering Waves and Edgerunners collaboration itself is full of tension, and I wanted to convey that post-apocalyptic yet hopeful cyberpunk atmosphere through this set of photos. That black hemisphere prop was a material prop I found last minute; I didn't expect its reflection effect to turn out surprisingly well, echoing the glossy finish of the outfit to give the entire frame more three-dimensional depth.
Every time I do this kind of sci-fi style, the moment I enjoy the most is right after finishing the makeup and putting on the clothes—it feels as if I've truly stepped into a certain corner of that world. Regarding the hairstyle, I intentionally let the bangs naturally cover the eyebrows to look colder, and the curve of the hair strands on both sides was adjusted several times to ensure it wouldn't look stiff in front of the lens. Setting the makeup was crucial; because the on-site lights were intense, I used waterproof and sweatproof foundation and liquid eyeliner to guarantee that the makeup wouldn't smudge throughout the two-hour shoot. In post-processing, we only did slight skin tone evening and color adjustments to preserve the original neon color atmosphere as much as possible—after all, this highly saturated blue-purple tone is the core of cyberpunk aesthetics.
Although it's just a session of cosplay photography, for me, every portrayal is an opportunity to converse with the character's soul. Leaning forward slightly in this photo with a calm yet narrative-rich gaze, I feel it perfectly captured that emotion of "even if it's illusory, embrace it with all your might." As a cosplayer, I've always felt that costume accuracy is just the foundation; what's more important is conveying the character's inner self through demeanor and body language. I hope this set of photos allows everyone to feel Lucy's unique charm within the Wuthering Waves worldview, and fellow fans are more than welcome to exchange thoughts on makeup, styling, light, and shadow techniques.
