This shoot is for the character Helektra from Honkai: Star Rail. Ever since I first learned about this character, I've been constantly thinking about how to recreate her mysterious, cool temperament through makeup, styling, and atmosphere. As a cosplay share, this official set strictly follows the aesthetic of the original setting.
When I first saw this costume design, I was immediately drawn to the contrast between the black gauze and metallic holographic fabric. The sheer puff sleeves on the upper body feel light and delicately fractured, while the fabric on the skirt and cuffs reflects a dreamlike blue-purple shimmer under light, fitting the melancholy and ethereal background perfectly. The tailoring of this outfit is truly special—particularly around the sleeves and neckline—delivering rich layering while beautifully flattering the shoulder line, maintaining mystery while keeping the wearing experience comfortable.
Moving on to makeup, the eye makeup took the most effort. I specifically chose large-diameter contact lenses with high translucency to give my gaze an emptier, cooler look. Under the eyes, I applied 3D rhinestones and white-lined teardrop and cross patterns; these patches reflect light beautifully under facial illumination, serving as one of the soul highlights of this look. On my left cheekbone, I drew a delicate purple cross symbol, a detail that instantly added narrative depth to the overall face makeup.
To complement the wig styling, I added a purple gradient treatment to the ends, which, paired with the white feathery crown headpiece, created rich overall layering. After secondary grooming, this wig had plenty of volume, showing no obvious harsh reflections or messy strays under heavy studio lighting, which saved a lot of post-production work. While posing, I paid special attention so the feather headpiece wouldn't obscure my line of sight, keeping the full makeup visible while creating a soft contrast between the wig's sleek softness and the hard roman pillars in the background—a contrast between hard and soft that became a compositional highlight.
Putting on and taking off the outfit was more complicated than expected, but the wearing effect was fantastic. The multi-layered beaded choker around my neck carried a vintage charm, but the most eye-catching element was definitely the red-and-black color-blocked leather glove on my hand. The red leather appeared intensely vivid under the cold blue studio lights, creating a strong visual focus; with slight hand movements, the glove's sheen shifted dynamically. On the shooting day, the photographer and I constantly adjusted the lighting setup to weave the blue-purple ambient light and fill lights across the white plaster pillars and streamer decorations, enriching the depth of the cool-toned setting. The set design infused a sense of classical elegance: carved white roman pillars, surrounding floral arrangements, a white fluffy carpet below, and translucent iridescent reflective ribbons hanging in the background, keeping the overall scene dynamic and captivating.
During the shoot, I adopted a cross-legged seated pose with arms resting on the pedestal, striving to convey a relaxed composure that appeared unguarded yet fully in control. After testing several angles, I was extremely pleased with the final captured result—maintaining good core balance on the plush rug before the pedestal without making the equipment look bulky. Mid-shoot, I even re-adjusted and put the outfit back on to fix the shoulder positioning; though tiring, it proved well worth it for the final imaging quality.
I also noticed the keyword "baby supplementary food" in the post description. Though I'm posting a finished cosplay set, we can take it as a humorous meme! After all, the texture of this Anime cosplay aesthetic has nothing to do with "baby food"—it feels much more like an exquisite visual feast, presented as spiritual food or 2D aesthetic inspiration for everyone. Throughout the shoot, I stayed in character with eyes gently closed or casting a cool, detached gaze, keeping expression management subtle without exaggerated movements, relying instead on eyes and hand details to convey the character's internal monologue. I trust this Helektra makeup and styling recreation allows everyone to feel her extraordinary, mysterious aura within the Honkai: Star Rail universe. Every shoot offers a deeper understanding of the character, and this time was no exception. I look forward to continuing to bring more high-quality cosplay works through professional detail control in the future.
