From deciding to prepare this main cosplay set to communicating shooting plans with the photographer and finishing post-production retouching, it indeed took a considerable amount of time to fine-tune every step. The theme for this shoot is Kurohime from Fate/Grand Order, coinciding with the peak cherry blossom season. The combination of the streaming water and falling cherry blossoms visually fits this character's cool and aloof aura perfectly.

Regarding the costume, I chose a Japanese sailor uniform style based predominantly in black, featuring long sleeves accented with white stripes at the collar and cuffs, and a pure white scarf tied at the chest. The white belt at the waist not only highlights the waistline but also makes it convenient to hang the primary prop—a katana with a fine diamond-braided hilt texture. To pursue authentic restoration, preparing the long straight black wig and black-rimmed glasses took quite a long time; the black-rimmed glasses helped significantly in adding a calm and rational trait to the character.

For the location of this Outdoor photography session, we chose a shallow stream where the riverbed was covered with off-white pebbles and sparse green grass grew along the banks. The water was very shallow, just barely covering ankles, with plenty of white cherry blossom petals floating on the surface fallen from overhead branches—when the wind blew, one could truly feel the magic of a \"cherry blossom blizzard.\" To match the theme of \"Kurohime Story: Kaminagashi Part 1\", I designed specific poses in the water. For instance, in the final shot kneeling on one knee in the stream, with hands gently wrapped in fine white cord, combined with the slightly bluish dusk lighting, it presented a quiet and even melancholic narrative atmosphere.

The photographer had his own unique ideas regarding visual language for this Anime portrait project. Rather than using highly conventional portrait compositions, he preferred framing shots with lush cherry blossom branches as foregrounds to create a natural framing and masking effect, giving the illusion that the subject was enveloped by the environment and merged with nature. For the unsheathed sword posing, instead of overly exaggerated duel stances, we chose subtle side turns with the blade tip pointing downward or held horizontally, paired with the character's signature expressionless, cool gaze to give the photos even greater visual tension.

Before preparing this photo set, I specifically researched Japanese folklore and mythological lore. Kurohime's lore in FGO itself has deep connections to classical myths, such as tales where a sword and hair were thrown into a pond, and a serpent swallowed them and perished. I infused my own interpretations of these mythological elements into the shots, striving to blend that sense of fatalism and mystery into the character's expressions and movements.

Since it was outdoor shooting, the weather on the day of the shoot was somewhat unpredictable, with lighting shifting between bright and overcast. However, this diffuse lighting proved to be exceptionally soft without stark contrasts of light and shadow; the overcast sky gave the color palette a pinkish-purple hue and low-saturation cool white, looking remarkably soft and fitting Kurohime's cool, otherworldly aura even better. During photo selection and color grading, we intentionally preserved a filmic texture and subtle haziness without over-sharpening, as this better captured the serene tranquility beside a springtime stream.

The shooting process was actually quite challenging—walking back and forth in the stream wearing a uniform, with slippery pebbles making it easy to lose balance, plus managing long straight hair required constant angle adjustments to keep it flowing naturally in the wind. But seeing the final results made all the effort completely worth it. This Kurohime cosplay main set, from costume and prop preparation to location selection and visual expression, reflects an enormous amount of thought from both myself and the photographer. I hope this series effectively conveys Kurohime's unique essence, and that this approach—blending subtle lore research with meticulous artistic design—sets these photos apart from standard cosplay sets. The photographer carried his distinct composition and color style through every piece, and I deeply respect his artistic work while remaining grateful for everyone's hard effort throughout the shoot. It was a truly delightful collaboration.
