This photoshoot restores Kasugano Sora from Yosuga no Sora. To bring the character's expression closer to the original work, the makeup and styling focused on a soft red eye look and fair skin tone. The wig was specially adjusted for the curvature of the twin tails and the placement of the black ribbons, paired with the classic pure white turn-down collar shirt, a dynamic high-slit hemline, a gray-black checkered pleated miniskirt, and black over-the-knee socks. The overall black-and-white high-contrast color combination is highly eye-catching in the frame and highlights the character's slender silhouette and temperament.
The shoot took place in an indoor setting with heavy European vintage elements. The old wooden piano and carved sofa enhance the narrative feel of the photos, and the black rabbit plushie carried along with the scattered red rose decorations add a touch of quiet, healing atmosphere to the entire scene. In terms of light and shadow, the photographer utilized a warm-toned rim-backlight, which not only gives more texture to the wood grain of the furniture and the strands of the wig, but also creates a natural rim light around the edges of the character.
During the shoot, whether curling legs up while sitting on the sofa holding the rabbit or lifting the skirt hem to look back from a side profile, the floating twin tails form a wonderful contrast with the static scene, and the timing of the snapshots was captured exceptionally well. This time, I tried to find a balance between the character's cold detachment and softness. The vintage warm tones in the final photos neutralized Sora's aloofness, giving me a more concrete understanding of the character. The final work's aesthetic is perfectly on point, making it a very satisfying record recently.
