Shooting this set of works for Waguri Kaoruko was a very fresh practice. When starting to plan this cosplay, I repeatedly pondered how to interpret the artistic conception pointed to by the theme "The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity" using visual language. In order to accurately restore the basic appearance of the character, the wig chosen this time is styled with a distinct grayish-purple tone, and fine highlight glitter was added to the seemingly casual, messy look, striving to display a velvet-like soft and translucent light under backlit environments, increasing the unique detail tension of 2D characters.

Regarding the makeup and styling, the core demand lay in constructing a pair of bright and clean eyes. I chose this highly saturated bright blue colored contact lens, custom-fitted to the curvature of my eye shape, and utilized reddish-brown eyeshadow to blend the lower eyelid, making the eye makeup look both layered and natural. The blush and lip color intentionally avoided overly intense colors, opting for a milk tea color scheme closer to the skin tone. This ensures that the overall facial makeup is clear and natural, achieving a subtle balance with the slightly vibrant hair color, allowing the character's gaze to directly convey her own personality traits.

In the choice of clothing, I paired a white shirt featuring ruffle elements with a nude pink cardigan sweater that has a thick cable-knit texture. This outfit coordination is highly versatile, not only echoing the soft color tone in the character setting to present a warm visual effect in the frame, but also being very suitable for me to express free body language. For instance, when giving a double thumbs-up gesture or holding a cake and fork with one hand, the tailoring of the clothing does not restrict the extension of the movements.

The choice of props was actually intentional. This cake layered with cream and cherries is not just to embellish the frame, but more to construct a slice-of-life and healing sense of scene, bringing the character into a real daily life snippet. This set of photos was taken during the time with the most abundant sunlight, and the high contrast brought by overhead lighting put high demands on our mastery of facial light and shadow. During the shoot, I had to constantly watch whether the reflection of the wig under strong light was overexposed, and ensure that the grip of my hands when holding the utensils did not look stiff, hoping to showcase the character's unique worldview through such interactive details. Additionally, in the interpretation of this look, I tried using different body languages to enrich the narrative of the frames. Besides the conventional static close-ups, natural expressions and gestures were also captured, hoping to let everyone feel Waguri Kaoruko's bright yet naturally ethereal qualities through these photos. I also thoroughly enjoyed the process of slowly shaping and integrating into this character in front of the camera through this roleplay and Japanese style photography experience.
