[Doctor cosplay] Identity V: Revealing the Dark style and Yandere makeup Persona of the Doctor

This time, I portrayed the Doctor from Identity V; the core theme of this shoot was exploring her obsessive, unhinged madness beneath the healer's guise.

To align with this concept, a tremendous amount of effort was poured into the makeup beforehand. Forsaking conventional fresh transparency, the foundation was deliberately made stark pale, the eye makeup utilized heavy red blending paired with crimson contact lenses, and cross-shaped scar makeup across the forehead and cheekbones was finished with smeared red lip color to craft a sickly, oppressive tension in this Yandere makeup. For the wig, I selected a silver-white braided styling—the braid across the crown amplified mature ascetic restraint, while wispy, slightly disheveled bangs broke this solemnity to convey high-strung mental anxiety.

In terms of wardrobe, the base layer was a black turtleneck adorned with an eye-catching red cross insignia across the chest, draped with a light-colored short-sleeved cape heavily splattered and smeared with fake blood. The waist was styled with a brown leather belt and tactical utility gear. For props, we prepared an exaggerated, massive syringe filled with red liquid, along with a handful of blue-and-white capsule pills. Black gloves and a cap were also essential nuances, infusing the overall styling with a cold, rugged edge in this Dark style aesthetic.

Shooting Convention photos at an expo truly tests one's adaptability to the environment. The low-key mood of Photo 1 is my favorite visual delivery. I purposely scouted a pitch-black corner free of extraneous light, utilizing an overhead rim side-light. Adopting a low crouch, I brought the syringe alongside my face with my right hand, leveraging wide-angle lens perspective to make the needle cylinder look colossal, aimed directly toward the camera. Paired with an unblinking, direct stare, it unleashed intense menace and visceral tension.

To channel the character's multi-layered mental states, distinct contrasts were engineered into the posing design. Photos 2 and 3 were shot under the brightly lit exhibition hall, where I posed raising the syringe high while reaching forward with the other hand. For Photo 3, I deliberately switched to a glove with gray fluffy fleece texture to project an uncanny, grotesque aura. In Photo 4, the entire ambiance underwent another shift: against a cool-toned, dim background dotted with soft circular bokeh orbs, I knelt down, cradling the blue-and-white pills in both hands and looking slightly upward into the lens. Stripping away overt aggression, this stance brought forth a sickly melancholy and counterfeit mercy—as if the Doctor were administering her own brand of hopeless salvation to patients.

From initial makeup concept to refining pose nuances on set based on lighting, I strove to keep my body language and gaze taut throughout. I wanted these Convention photos to be more than just a collage of costumes and props—to genuinely convey the hidden madness and obsession lurking behind her healing facade. Only when emotional resonance merges seamlessly with external aesthetics does a character come alive, which remains the creative direction I continually explore and refine in every shoot.
