These photos are convention photos taken during my recent participation in the CPSP convention, shot at a temporary indoor set. As an Anime cosplay of Lauma from Genshin Impact, a lot of care went into this costume from receiving it to adjusting the details—especially the headpiece and waist ring buckles, which needed to look beautiful while allowing easy movement around the convention venue.
The wig used blue-purple heat-resistant fiber. When styling, special attention was given to the bang curves and side layering, which, combined with the built-in glowing horn props, created natural cool-toned reflections in the dimmer hall environment. The main dress fabric is an ice-blue pearlescent satin, tailored into a refreshing sleeveless halter style; the golden circular embellishment and adjacent gemstone accents on the chest captured the character's cool tone perfectly. The arm ribbons are made of semi-transparent sheer gauze, flowing gently whenever in motion—though frozen in photos, their lightweight texture remains palpable.
The cross-straps on the legs were the most painstaking part, requiring wrapping vine-like geometric shapes around the legs while ensuring each strap was the right length and stayed firmly in place. Many sitting and kneeling poses were shot this time, mainly to fully showcase the leg straps and barefoot design, paired with a white glowing orb prop to make the overall look more three-dimensional.
Top lighting at the convention came from the venue's lights array with sharp contrast, but luckily the photographer adjusted lighting angles to keep face and body lighting soft, while using background blur to soften the cluttered crowds and equipment behind me. The white plush round rug beneath my feet was a crucial atmosphere prop, insulating the character from the cold gray floor while enhancing the reflective effect.
The shoot required quite a bit of physical energy overall, but the final photo results were deeply satisfying. The photographer's candid captures were great, and the pose directing felt very comfortable. I personally feel the joy of Anime cosplay lies not just in surface recreation, but in bestowing vivid moments upon the character through one's own movements and expressions, expressing static character designs through dynamic poses.
For this interpretation of Lauma cosplay, I feel there is still room for improvement; balancing sleekness and an ethereal aura in real life with such a fantasy-rich design is inherently challenging. This experience gave me more inspiration for future convention photos, and how to better utilize props, light, and shadow to assist character presentation remains a continuous topic for us to explore.
The shooting process was delightful, and I really love the final photos. I hope to record this atmosphere well!
