[Keqing cosplay] The Leisurely Charm of Liyue's Yuheng - Image 2

For this set of Keqing cosplay photos with a traditional Chinese theme, I wanted to try placing her in a backdrop that leans more toward classic Chinese aesthetics. As for props, I specially paired her with a round white silk fan and a writing brush. Although there have been many photoshoot ideas for Keqing before, this time I set aside her iconic neon purple and overly modern design elements, opting instead to incorporate traditional fabrics and tassel details into her original attire.

Regarding costume design details, the top features a black off-the-shoulder crisscross cut, paired with a gradient tulle skirt transitioning from aqua blue to violet. Under the interplay of light and shadow, the fabric texture and color transitions appear exceptionally delicate. The navy blue sheer detached sleeves retain the character's agility while adding a sense of flowing elegance that pairs perfectly with the bamboo shadows and retro lanterns in the background. Bead strands and silver ornaments on the skirt hem also enhance the outfit's sophistication, avoiding any monotony from plain fabrics.

The wig is the soul of this styling. The light purple long straight hair keeps her iconic cat-ear buns on top, complemented by dark blue ribbons adorned with pearls on both sides, creating rich layers for the hair styling. Paired with blue-purple contact lenses and soft eye makeup, I strove to convey Keqing's resolute yet charmingly graceful expression. The makeup deliberately emphasized facial contours to avoid looking overly sweet, aiming to match her presence as one of the Liyue Qixing.

This photoshoot utilized two sets of props to match different moods. While holding the writing brush, I tried immersing myself in her identity as a leader, as if reviewing official documents or writing down hopes for the future. Holding the fan felt more casual and gentle, as though she had put aside her battle-hardened edge. This dynamic contrast between action and stillness was quite interesting, and I worked hard to portray these different sides of the character through subtle changes in my gaze.

The venue was a traditional Chinese-style studio that excels in Traditional style cosplay set shoots. The wooden geometric window frames, green bamboo in the background, and a parchment lantern glowing with warm yellow light provided an outstanding shooting atmosphere. For lighting, the photographer used a warm key light combined with a cool rim light, allowing the blue elements of the costume to pop out from the background—the contrast between warm and cool tones was both harmonious and clean. When taking the main photo holding the round fan, light shone from the front right, which, together with the warm lantern light, rendered facial contours softly.

In fact, every time I cosplay Keqing, I contemplate how to showcase the contrast between her decisive efficiency and inner gentleness. Although seen by everyone as a workaholic, she possesses a heart dedicated to protecting Liyue and its people. This set allowed me to slow down and experience her mindset when enjoying a rare quiet moment away from busy official duties. Compared to her swift, decisive posture during battle in the game, sitting quietly with a brush or fan is, I believe, equally a part of her personality as a Liyue character.

Cosplay is more than just putting on costume pieces; it's about matching the character's inner aura through makeup, eye contact, and body language. Being able to convey a part of that aura through traditional settings and layered details made this endeavor truly rewarding. Of course, the prep work behind the final shots was extensive—from styling the wig to fine-tuning costume details and communicating desired camera angles with the photographer, every tedious step came together to forge the final images.

The entire photoshoot went smoothly and comfortably; special thanks to the photographer and retoucher for their hard work. I hope this photo set conveys that Keqing's quiet leisure hours in Liyue are filled with bright eyes, gentleness, and crisp elegance. Blending traditional aesthetics with anime culture in this shoot was a wonderful experience, and I look forward to exploring more character recreations with traditional style cosplay elements in the future.
