The image of Sailor Moon froze in the moment the shutter flashed. Participating in this 422 dance troupe's Retro anime gathering was a thorough tribute to vintage nostalgia. Today we skip the avant-garde to focus solely on classics—re-activating the magical girls who shone in nineties animation through live-action form.

Speaking of our Convention photo prep, we did our homework starting with the wigs. Sailor Moon's iconic golden hair with twin buns and signature framing bangs needed not only warm light-gold tones matching the anime, but also careful attention to hair fluffiness. We used substantial hairspray for setting, aiming to capture comic-like airy volume under the lens. For other members—whether Sailor Mercury's refreshing lake blue hair or Sailor Mars's deep wine red locks—waking up hours early every morning for styling was routine.

Costume details were our most prioritized element. Glossy sailor outfits with structured pleats, striking oversized chest bows, and faint layers of petticoat tulle inside skirts—every stitch dictated garment texture. In particular, for high over-the-knee boots, we specifically chose leather with exceptional sheen, offering water and scratch resistance while beautifully accentuating leg contours under studio lighting to boost character presence and confidence.

During shooting, everyone coordinated closely, trying various paired positioning arrangements—such as Tuxedo Mask and Sailor Moon's classic CP stances, or separate assemblies of Outer and Inner Guardians. The photographer expertly captured these moments. Floor reflections added spatial depth, making polished leather boots look richer in inverted reflections.

As veteran otaku, seeing the full main cast lined up—from Sailor Moon to Tuxedo Mask, Sailor Venus, Jupiter, Mercury, Mars, as well as Outer Guardians Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, and Saturn—brought indescribable emotion. Though a classic franchise, materializing them into reality before the camera required tremendous execution and unity.

This set of Convention photo captures isn't just playfulness; it's a gift for old-school fans. Rather than chasing flawless digital modeling looks, we hoped to recreate the bravest, most united magical girl team through realistic makeup and solid costuming. While this team shoot wraps up, joyful memories of classic retro anime will endure forever.
