For this look of General of Xianzhou Yaoqing, I decided to first share makeup and hair details. Short white hair and that recognizable pair of animal ears were crucial during initial hair teasing, requiring styling glue to fix curves (White hair, animal ears aesthetic). Ice-blue blended colored contacts lifted eye sharpness. Clothing had many layers: blue inner lining fabric had dark pattern reflections, paired with metal ring buckles at collar and red tassel ropes, really testing costume styling execution.
This time we shot two completely different scene schemes, wanting to reveal different sides of character aura. First set was an in-studio iron chain background dominated by dark blue cold light, with scattered red petals on floor, creating a trapped or broken-shackle vibe. Paired with black high-heeled tall boots and leg rings, overall looked extremely cool. Second scene I loved particularly: full moon sitting on Chinese blue tile eaves, yellow osmanthus branches reaching out beside, and cute white rabbit models placed on ground/side, holding that black jar labeled "wine" in hand. From dark cool-badass to Mid-Autumn moon-viewing style Chinese aesthetic, contrast was super strong for this Traditional Chinese style cosplay set.
During shooting, the most important thing to watch was outfit drape. Because that white long coat material was smooth, incorrect shoulder positioning would crease ugly wrinkles, so when posing I had to constantly control arm exertion, keeping shoulder line flatter to support general's upright posture. As for leg leather ropes and boot height, I adjusted sitting poses multiple times to manage depth perception. Boots were heavy, but provided solid weight to overall styling.
Regarding photographer's lighting setup, indoor cold light set used blue and purple side-backlight, making character outlines crisp without dirtying skin tone under cold light, instead yielding a cool texture. Moon set combined hard and soft light, simulating high-altitude hanging moon while giving face sufficient brightness; fortunately final result looked very natural. Every time shooting ancient style or multi-element fusion works, I repeatedly confirm composition and focal length with photographer—because environment props were numerous, wrong focal lengths would clutter background or eat moon halo.
Actually many props were prepared: besides osmanthus tree, lanterns, and white rabbits, I felt the finishing touch was that wine jar. One-handed holding jar pose instantly added heroically bold and carefree vibe to character. That's why I really love composition in picture five, showcasing garment cuts without overly crowding space. As someone who enjoys exploring character states in different scenes, every new setup triggers more expression desires.
