"General... you baddie!" Using this line as the title joke for this official photoshoot happens to fit perfectly with the character's strategic yet slightly tsundere temperament. The photos were actually shot last month, and I just finished organizing the retouched images these past two days, so I'm rushing to save and log them.

This time I'm portraying Fu Xuan from Honkai: Star Rail, a character I had long planned to try. I was actually a bit tired on the day of the shoot, but as soon as the base makeup was done, the long light pink-purple wig was put on, and those two massive ring-shaped bun structures were clipped into the hair cap, my spirit instantly lifted, giving a direct sense of character possession.

Since this costume has so many details, the wearing process for a cosplayer can be called a massive project. The purple gem embedded in the chest is a highly eye-catching visual focus. To create a translucent and lustrous feel similar to the original artwork, the prop team partners tried several materials and internal lighting, and I'm very satisfied with the final texture. In addition, the wide white sleeves on the arms and the irregular cut hem provide excellent dynamic extension when walking or sitting down.

We put some thought into the scene setup. Instead of choosing a completely empty outdoor scene, we rented a classical Chinese indoor set. The calligraphy banners hanging in the background, the wooden grid warm-light floor lamp next to it, and the landscape scrolls spread across the floor blend these elements with the character's inherently cool purple attributes, creating an atmosphere where an ethereal vibe and a bookish aura intertwine, beautifully bringing out the image of a girl in traditional style. For the lighting, the photographer used alternating cool and warm color temperatures, allowing the frame to present a richly layered color contrast, which both highlighted the character's fair skin and pink-purple hair and preserved the mystery of the dark areas.

Regarding the posing during the shoot, I feel that to embody the character's core, just sitting beautifully isn't enough. I had to hold that elegant round fan while paying attention to the finger engagement points and the placement of my gaze. Poses like crossing legs while sitting on the wooden chair in the photo can not only elongate the overall body proportions but also create a sharp texture in the frame through the collision of white stockings and high heels with the wooden floor.

When composing, we intentionally looked for a few foreground elements as blockages, trying to create a "peeping" or "observer" perspective, which also perfectly fits the character's style of scrutinizing everything within the Divination Commission setting. For the sets of photos sitting on the floor, spreading the skirt hem and ribbons across the glossy wooden floor, coordinated with the enhancement of light and shadow, combined the magnificence of the costume with the character's lazy feel just right.

In fact, every time shooting a character with a complex clothing structure and numerous decorations consumes a lot of physical strength, but the moment I get the retouched images, I always feel that all the previous hard work was well worth it. The restoration level of the costume, the precision of the makeup look, and the color grading of the post-processing are all highly critical. When the final outputted photos came out, the translucent feel presented in the frame completely met my expectations for this character under the lens in this cosplay project.

This official photoshoot is more than just recording a character's appearance; it's a process of elevating my own understanding and expression ability of the character. This long post can be considered a brief summary of this shoot project, logging some behind-the-scenes and details.
