[Yae Miko Cosplay] Sharing Mirror Selfies and Insights on Genshin Impact Character Styling Replication

Taking mirror selfies with my phone in this cosplay outfit was the very first thing I wanted to do after getting the costume. Compared to professional studio lighting, a mirror selfie reflects the visual presentation of this dress most authentically from an everyday perspective. Especially for a character like Yae Miko, this lazy yet slightly prideful temperament fits perfectly with an everyday camera feel. Today, let's talk about the outfit coordination insights and shooting details of this costume.

First, regarding the wig, though pink hair looks lively, it actually requires some skills to style it into Miko's fluffy yet layered look. For the pair of wooden-textured horn ornaments and fluffy animal ear accessories on top of my head, I used specialized hairpins and adhesive to fix them, ensuring they wouldn't wobble or fall off during head movements. The installation direction of the headpiece also needed repeated adjustment so that the final angle revealed just the right silhouette in the mirror. Combined with the natural draping of the bangs, even if the phone blocks most of my face, the overall design sense can still be felt from the edges.

The tailoring of the costume is the highlight of the entire photo set. The white-based outerwear with red borders is actually spliced with semi-sheer fabric, allowing the inner patterns to be faintly visible. This sense of layering becomes very prominent when standing or sitting. The purple-patterned metal emblem on the chest boasts high accuracy and a moderate weight, preventing it from drooping down, making it the focal center of the entire outfit's visuals. Although the high-slit design of the lower body pursues accuracy, it also brought quite a challenge for wearing. Fortunately, the safety measures underneath were well implemented, so even in the single-knee kneeling pose of image 1 or the sitting posture of image 2, there is no worry about exposure, while perfectly showcasing the leg lines.

During the shoot, I intentionally adjusted my standing position in the mirror. I think the standing posture in image 3 is a great angle for display. Dropping both arms naturally while slightly turning my body allows the camera to capture both the red-and-white color-blocked waist-cinching design and the dangling white tassels. Although the phone blocked a part of my vision while taking photos, this allows the viewer's attention to focus more on the costume structure, hair accessory details, and the aesthetic appeal of the overall body shape. Images 1 and 2 experimented with single-knee kneeling and an asymmetrical sitting posture, respectively. This center-of-gravity distribution with a certain tilt allows the skirt fabric to drape naturally, showing more looseness. The way of holding the long-handled red prop is also very deliberate; instead of holding it stiffly, it's kept in a state of resting by the hand or lightly leaning against it, which, combined with the positioning of the gaze, brings out that effortlessly capable feel.

For the makeup, I intentionally enhanced the contours of the eyeshadow. Even though my face is covered, the parts of the skin exposed, along with the neckline revealing the collarbone lines, still need light and shadow to emphasize three-dimensionality. The fabric of this costume is relatively stiff and crisp, so it won't look terribly wrinkled due to large movements, making it very suitable for stepping out of the indoors into the outdoors. The overall saturation of this outfit is high, especially the design with distinct red and white color blocks, which should be even more striking under natural light.

The character Yae Miko inherently carries an effortlessly confident aura. After putting on this outfit, you naturally straighten your back, and your gaze becomes lazy. Although it's just a set of mirror selfies, by adjusting the direction of the light and the cleanliness of the mirror, you can capture completely different textures. Putting this coordination together, elements like tassels, a halter neck, and large sleeves combine to allow the outfit replication to simultaneously maintain a flowing quality for everyday walking, making the overall visual feedback absolutely amazing.
