This shoot focuses on Ellen Joe from Zenless Zone Zero. The design of this Maid outfit is truly distinctive—while rooted in a maid theme, it incorporates abundant techwear elements tailored to her personal style. Examining the outfit closely upon arrival, the white ruffles along the chest and shoulders set against the primary black base created a classic, sharp visual contrast. The belt is accented with metallic rings and leather straps, while the apron features green dashed stitching and red bow accents—all remarkably refined details. For the headpiece, black spikes were added onto the white headband along with geometric hairpin clips on the side, staying entirely faithful to the original design. I styled the wig into a bob with blunt bangs and red gradient highlights along the tips and underlayer; to preserve vibrancy, I refreshed it before shooting and softly curled the ends with an iron for natural volume.

For makeup, I focused on red eyeshadow and subtle crimson shading around the eye sockets, paired with vibrant red contact lenses to give her gaze a sharper, more aggressive edge. A beauty mark was dotted under the left eye to enhance character recognition. The lipstick was a deeper red, keeping the overall makeup cool and aloof. During the shoot, to capture her iconic world-weary and indifferent demeanor, I avoided smiles or soft expressions, relying instead on detached, nonchalant gazes to anchor her core personality.

For a hand prop, I used a slender white cylindrical stick held between the fingers while resting my chin on my hand, instantly channeling that carefree, bored vibe. The spiked metallic wristbands were custom-crafted; to achieve a sharp, menacing sheen, they were treated with metallic spray paint, balancing weight and wearable comfort through careful DIY craftsmanship. The hands-on-hips pose in the second photo effectively showcased the garment's silhouette and skirt layers, where the white hemline lace contrasted against the black main skirt, harmonizing with the white waist apron and Stockings accents for balanced black-and-white proportions.

The location chosen was an industrial-style indoor studio featuring tires, red oil drums, and textured dark gray walls. This gritty industrial setting seamlessly matched Zenless Zone Zero's overarching art direction. Big thanks to photographer Meat for the camera work—soft studio lighting was utilized to accentuate the metallic hardware and wig highlights without losing the dark, moody background. To convey an imposing presence, we explored numerous angles from close-ups to half-body shots, continually adjusting reflective planes and rearranging background props. Maintaining a cold, collected demeanor while ensuring straps and wristbands stayed perfectly positioned was certainly demanding, but seeing the final photos made every minute spent on styling and makeup truly worthwhile. I hope this set conveys Ellen Joe's unique charm to everyone.
