[Tamamo no Mae cosplay] Fate/EXTRA Record Tokyo Game Show on-site record - Image 1

The crowd turnout at TGS 2026 was monumental, and bringing out Tamamo no Mae this time involved extensive refinements to both costume and makeup styling. This modernized blue Japanese-style ensemble from Fate/EXTRA Record created striking textural contrast beneath the exhibition hall lighting. To recreate her synthesis of regal grace and nimble charm, I deliberately chose fabric lined with gold-thread piping, while the circular gold emblem at the waist underwent multiple rounds of polishing to ensure rich luster before the lens. The animal-ear headpiece and dark blue ribbon bows tended to shift while navigating the crowds, so plenty of discreet bobby pins were anchored beforehand to keep my silhouette crisp and composed during shoots.

Lighting across the convention floor was quite complex with cool overhead beams, so I scouted angles catching bounced ambient spill from adjacent promotional booths to fill facial illumination, keeping the base makeup dewy and luminous. Donning over-the-knee black Stockings paired with the shortened hemline required conscious care regarding garment silhouette during sitting and leg-raising poses—micro-adjusting angles produced far more flattering lines. Between takes, many fellow franchise enthusiasts stopped by to chat about her lore, sharing soaring anticipation for Fate/EXTRA Record.

For makeup execution, the crimson mark in the center of the forehead was hand-painted using water- and sweat-resistant pigments, holding up admirably despite warm hall temperatures. The pink wig fibers were prone to showing static flyaways under intense exhibition halogens, so treating them with care oil beforehand kept them silky and disciplined. Coordination with the photographer was seamless; to capture candid dynamic frames, we tested diverse camera heights and framings, ultimately achieving ideal exposure and color balance. For characters of this caliber, garment nuance and pose design dictate the overarching standard. The exhibition concrete was unforgiving, so to keep knees and leg lines elegant, many postures relied on gentle perches rather than full weight. Despite the physical fatigue of high-tempo shooting, seeing the garment's dimensional layers and the character's aura blend into the finished captures made every bit of prep thoroughly rewarding. TGS featured richly saturated backdrops that formed vivid contrast against this blue-and-black styling, letting the subject pop cleanly. If opportunity permits, I look forward to exploring more characters from this universe in future projects.
