Squeezing into this cardboard box that just barely fits one person felt like returning to the secret base of the Game Development Department. To recreate Hanaoka Yuzu's unique "unmotivated shut-in gamer" persona, I moved my base into this corrugated cardboard box. Since she is a girl who loves hiding herself away, the most direct way to express it was literally putting myself in a box.

When putting together this look, I cared most about achieving that relaxed loungewear feel with a subtle touch of tsundere. The natural creases of the oversized white jacket while curling up inside the box, paired with dark cuffs, distinct armbands, and light blue striped shorts, perfectly match her everyday state of holding a console and hiding in a box at the Game Development Department. The orange-red wig shows a vibrant luster under the lights, complemented by makeup that intentionally highlights blue and orange eyeshadow, making the features appear clear and exquisitely anime-esque. To stay true to character, I simply wore a pair of white chunky slippers—after all, being at "home" comes with zero constraints.

The shooting environment this time was a classroom with solid wood flooring, and placing the cardboard box between classroom desks and chairs created quite a unique aesthetic. To capture the perspective of someone inside a box, the key was using top-down camera angles. In the photo lying on my back, my legs naturally extend out of the box with a playful pose, combined with the subtle gesture of tugging at the collar, which effectively conveys her flustered yet charming reaction upon being "discovered." In contrast, the shot curled up at the bottom of the box is quieter—resting my chin in my hand with a spaced-out gaze, as if completely absorbed in my own little world.

At the bottom of the box, I deliberately placed a turquoise-green bar prop to add a visual focal point and color contrast to the enclosed space. The lighting setup was quite elaborate, with warm fill light added at the bottom and sides of the box to create a glow that seems to emanate from within the box itself. This enhances skin translucency while giving the narrow space more depth and dramatic impact in the photo. Combined with the rigid lines of the cardboard box, the resulting texture of the photo shoot is truly satisfying.

As for the character Hanaoka Yuzu, her shy nature and passionate devotion to her hobbies are truly endearing. Choosing a cardboard box as the core element serves both to faithfully recreate her "secret hideout" in the Game Development Department and to convey the undisturbed, immersive world of the character through an exaggerated yet tangible mini-setting. I've always believed that a great cosplay presentation relies not just on accurate costumes, but more importantly on capturing a specific scenario that reflects the persona. Turning the character into a "parcel" packed in a box is perhaps a playful, humorous homage.

In this Hanaoka Yuzu cosplay styling, while staying faithful to character designs, I also strove to integrate my own interpretation through anime-style photography. Whether it is the texture of bright light falling across her hair or the spontaneous candid poses, I hope to convey that relaxed, everyday, and fun otaku atmosphere of the Game Development Department. From planning to final shots, squeezing into a cardboard box was indeed a bit tight, but the resulting lighting effects and character expressions truly made the final work deeply rewarding.
