This finished cosplay series of Saiba Midori primarily aims to capture the relaxed, gaming-absorbed everyday life characteristic of the Game Development Department. Choosing to bring this character to life came from how much I adore her homebody vibe and intense gaming focus—it perfectly mirrors how I look parked in front of the TV playing games at home.

Wardrobe preparation required careful consideration. For this green-and-white color-blocked off-the-shoulder dress, the fabric had to be lightweight to create soft, tiered ruffles with natural volume; after testing several iterations, this version offered the ideal drape and color fidelity. The long black ribbon draping across the chest serves as a visual centerpiece, requiring constant attention during takes to ensure it hung naturally without twisting or obscuring skirt details.

The wig was styled into a short bob with blunt bangs, trimmed carefully along the jawline to maintain airy fullness without looking stiff. Makeup focused on the eyes, featuring emerald contact lenses that echo the outfit's palette. Eye shadow was kept understated, focusing on subtly elongating the eye shape to accentuate her feline, playful charm. For props, I prepared both a handheld console and a gaming controller. Holding a controller is genuinely the easiest way to slip into character—no forced posing required. Just locking eyes with the display or glancing up toward the lens naturally telegraphs that effortless absorption in gaming.

The green halo prop over my head was custom-cut from acrylic; wearing it over long periods carried some noticeable weight, requiring numerous hairpins buried in the wig base for firm support. The cat-ear headphones and hair accessories were color-coordinated, with pink-and-green ribbon bows adding vibrant layers. On my feet, white ankle socks paired with plush donut-accented slippers added sweet micro-details that popped whenever I stood up or shifted seated positions.

The shoot was staged in a cozy kitchen nook layered with a pink checkered rug, flanked by brown paper bags filled with baguettes and oversized plushies. Warm ambient daylight fell across soft macaron-toned cabinetry, lending the whole frame a tender, fluffy warmth. To honor that slice-of-life texture, my choreography favored organic, relaxed gestures—stretching legs out naturally, kneeling sideways across the rug, or propping a cheek in one hand. From wardrobe curation to wig adjustments and pose rehearsals, this project took roughly two weeks of prep. I hope this series shares that joyful, carefree warmth of the Game Development Department.
