The setting for this shoot leans towards a sci-fi combat style. The cool-toned studio environment can well highlight the texture of the characters and props. In terms of clothing, a black long-sleeve sailor suit is paired with gray-white striped collars and a blue tie. The first set is matched with a black pleated skirt and patent leather tight pants, while the second set changes to a silver-gray high-waist base layer and patent leather over-the-knee stockings, finally matched with black platform small leather shoes, making the overall lines clean and sharp. The wig was specially chosen as black long straight twintails, and a blue glowing halo headpiece with geometric triangles was added to the top of the head to increase a sense of the future.
Props are the focus of this shoot. What is held in the first picture is a black mechanical gun-blade that fuses firearm and blade elements, with blue lighting and logo details on the side, feeling very heavy. The second picture switches to a long-handled katana, with the blade glowing with blue light and the hilt featuring white tassel streamers. To match these props, the action design needs to maximize tension. When holding the gun in a squatting position, core engagement is required to stabilize the center of gravity, while also paying attention to controlling the arc of the flying twintails. The action of swinging the knife standing on one leg actually has high requirements for a sense of balance; it took several trials to find an angle that could both showcase the leg lines and keep the blade and halo in the same frame.
In terms of makeup and styling, eye makeup is the core of the entire face. Red-pink eyeshadow is used for smudging, paired with deep black eyeliner to highlight a stern and focused gaze. The lip color is chosen as a reddish tone, which looks more vibrant under the cool white light. During the shoot, the lighting engineer used cool light leaning towards blue-purple, hitting the glossy stockings on the body to form obvious highlight reflections, and the texture is fantastic.
Actually, a lot of thought went into the early preparations for this set of photos. Just choosing the wig took trying out several models, and finally deciding on this one that can be tied into high twintails and is not easy to frizz. Although patent leather clothes and stockings have full visual effects, they are really non-breathable; after shooting for half an hour, I had to take a short break to breathe, especially when doing squatting and leg-lifting actions, the fabric's pulling feeling is quite strong. However, seeing the pictures presented in the camera, it feels like everything was worth it.
The style of the whole set of photos focuses on being handsome, without too much complex emotion, just wanting to present a crisp and sharp combat state. The cool-toned background plus the sci-fi halo makes the whole picture look clean and powerful. I hope this set of photos can bring everyone a little visual freshness. After all, this kind of pairing with a bit of mechanical feel and cold weapons is indeed rarely tried ordinarily, and it was a blast to shoot.
Speaking of the details of this styling, compromises were actually made in many places. For example, the top maintains the classic sailor suit silhouette, but added stripe elements to the cuffs and neckline so the whole thing wouldn't be too monotonous. The black and blue spliced sleeve covers on the arms are also to make the character look more combat-oriented, rather than a purely campus style. The silver-gray high-waist base layer forms a material contrast with the black patent leather stockings, and the intersection of glossy and matte will have a stronger layering under the studio lighting.
During the shooting process, I especially like the second posture of lifting one leg. This action not only requires maintaining bodily balance, but also requires holding the long knife over the head, with the blue reflection of the blade and the halo on the head echoing each other. To capture the best state of the hair flying and the blade trajectory, the photographer took many consecutive shots, and I also kept straining my strength, fearing that an unstable center of gravity would shake the frame. The first squatting gun-holding shot is mainly to highlight the heaviness of the mechanical gun-blade and the character's sharp gaze. The long straight black twintails fly high on one side of the character, forming a visual guideline that directly pulls the audience's view to the character and the weapon.
In terms of makeup, the base makeup was applied quite cleanly because the subsequent lighting is cool-toned; if the base makeup is too dirty, it is very easy to look muddy. The smudging range of the red-pink eyeshadow is slightly larger, forming a contrast with the black eyeliner, so that the eyes will look more spirited under the cool light. The lipstick color was also chosen to have a strong aura. With the overall matching, it brings out a bit of damselette sharpness amidst the sternness. In short, this shooting experience was very fulfilling, and it can be considered a test of my action expressiveness.
