[Crown cosplay] Goddess of Victory: NIKKE — A Gorgeous Traditional Chinese Style Interpretation

Bringing Crown from Goddess of Victory: NIKKE to life this time demanded extensive dedication from styling to the final frames. The costume features a modified Traditional Chinese style silhouette in black and gold; to channel the character's majestic presence, the fabric chosen was a lustrous satin paired with sheer black chiffon. The collar is a structured black mandarin collar adorned with gold frog buttons and tassels, while a cutout bodice embroidered with gold filigree layered classical poetic charm onto the 2D character foundation. The sleeves were tailored with spliced black gauze, creating natural, fluid draping whenever I moved or raised my arms.

For the hair, I prepared a long blonde wig styled with symmetrical double buns at the crown, adorned with golden branch and blossom hairpins to honor her design. Since wigs frizz easily, I spent considerable time combing, setting, and treating it with ample conditioning spray prior to shooting. The makeup featured blue contact lenses, with an earthy base overlaid by warm orange tones on the eyes, paired with pronounced blush and dewy lips to embody a noble yet spirited demeanor.

The shooting took place in an interior studio styled with classic mahogany furniture. The carved wooden bed was layered with a plush white rug, while translucent gauze curtains imprinted with calligraphy and an oversized illuminated circular prop framed the backdrop. Faux crimson maple leaves framed the left side. The photographer used a warm key light to cast specular highlights across my face and torso, accentuating skin texture. Navigating the long dress and gossamer black train was tricky—even slight movements shifted the drape, requiring continuous repositioning by hand or letting it spill naturally across the white fur rug to preserve ethereal flow.

We explored diverse postures throughout the shoot. The seated poses at the beginning appear effortless, yet holding them was physically demanding: to elongate the leg lines, I crossed my legs and reached them subtly toward the foreground lens with toes firmly pointed and the core held upright to avoid slouching. The final inverted upside-down pose tested core strength to its limit—not only extending legs straight up toward the ceiling, but naturally resting the crown of my head against the rug. Balancing in high heels while suspended proved challenging; after multiple takes tweaking the angle of the feet and torso tilt, we captured the ideal framing.

Overall, this shoot was filled with adventurous experimentation across lighting and set design. From wearing the ensemble to refining each posture, bringing mental concepts into tangible reality was a deeply rewarding creative journey.
