Convention weekends are always brimming with relentless energy, and this time I brought Crown from Goddess of Victory to life. Slipping into the voluminous white gown early in the morning, donning the weighty golden headpiece, and navigating the vast exhibition halls in towering black platform heels made for an intense physical endeavor. The fundamental distinction between a controlled studio session and capturing a dynamic Convention photo lies in the bustling crowd background; to ensure the pure white silhouette and brilliant gilded accents remained the unmistakable focal point, the photographer dedicated significant effort to Anime-style photography composition and color grading, muting the busy surroundings into a subdued, desaturated greyish tone.
Holding a pristine white folding fan accented with flowing tassels, I deliberately selected the full standing pose as the cover image—not only does it fully display the dynamic sway and drape of the skirt, but it also creates the most statuesque silhouette to elongate the leg lines. The second and third images capture a perch atop a tall metallic industrial ladder; balancing with ultra-high heels required immense core stability and careful center-of-gravity management. The playful angry-face emoji sticker edited into the photo serves as a humorous Easter egg, capturing the authentic exhaustion of sore feet after hours of traversing the expo floor.
The most craftsmanship-intensive aspect of this costume is the three-dimensional golden relief embroidery sweeping across the waist and hemline, lending tactile depth and luxury to the fabric at the expense of substantial garment weight. The gown features a dramatic high-slit cut, complemented by delicate white lace thigh bands that fluttered gracefully with every stride. Navigating the harsh, direct overhead lighting typical of cavernous convention halls required angling my posture slightly off-center to mitigate unflattering downward shadows and preserve soft, luminous facial highlights. Capturing these frames during the final moments of the convention as foot traffic subsided made the entire creative process deeply satisfying. Refining the makeup, wig styling, and intricate costume fittings on-site culminated in a rewarding set of photos, making every moment of running across the convention floor thoroughly worthwhile.
