Shooting this Phantom Words, Musical Traces outfit for Mostima from Arknights went through quite a bit of preparation from finalizing the project to the final release. What attracted me most about this look is its rich layering and contrasting color scheme. The vibrant blue long straight wig is paired with a sharp, black-and-blue metallic-textured headpiece; to bring out this lightweight Gothic style texture along with the Gothic makeup, the makeup artist spent a significant amount of effort just on fixing and adjusting the headpiece.

The costume part is highly sophisticated; the white cross pattern on the collar, the dark leather corset, and the golden vintage button decorations, combined with asymmetric loose white sleeves and a dark coat, make the overall silhouette highly recognizable. The golden waistband at the waist reflects an excellent texture under the light, paired with a fitting short skirt and black mid-calf boots, maintaining elegance while also ensuring lightness in movement. The prop is that slender silver straight sword with a clean and sharp blade outline, echoing the character's calm and unhurried temperament beautifully when held in hand.

The arrangement of the shooting venue also took a lot of thought. The set was built with white stone pillars, winding vines, black iron chains, and draping semi-transparent white gauze. A large number of blue-and-white toned flowers were specifically arranged on the ground and around the pillar bases, creating a tranquil and slightly fractured atmosphere of ruins. The giant clock face in the scene became the finishing touch of the frame; this high-contrast environmental element combined with the transmission of backlighting made the overall backdrop perfectly fit the theme.

During the shoot, the photographer focused on utilizing the backlighting from the hollowed-out window, letting the light trace a bright outline along the edges of the hair strands while highlighting the expressions of the facial features. Because of wearing the heavy headpiece, maintaining an extended body posture when adjusting sitting positions and sword-holding movements in front of the lens required care; how to make the facial expression present that composure and sense of mystery was actually the part that needed the most coordination during the cosplay photography. This set of photos achieved the expected effects in light and shadow scheduling as well as the fusion of environmental elements, presenting the character's diverse temperaments through different scene compositions. I hope everyone will enjoy this Gothic visual presentation with a touch of melancholy.
