[Suzuran Cosplay] Arknights' Nine-Colored Deer, a Shrine Maiden Fox Under Spring Cherry Blossoms

When shooting this Arknights Suzuran Cosplay photoshoot, it was right during the peak cherry blossom season. Originally, we planned to find a quiet forest path, but accidentally discovered a wooden boardwalk built along the mountain. The drooping pink branches beautifully echoed Suzuran's modified white shrine maiden outfit with red trims. The texture of the costume was heavier than I expected, especially the huge fox tails, which were stuffed firmly with cotton. To maintain their natural fluffiness during the shoot, a lightweight internal skeleton was installed, so I had to carefully keep my balance while walking. The staff was handcrafted from wood, and shaping the cloud pattern curves took a long time; the red-and-white tied ropes and bell details perfectly recreated the elements from the character design. The red umbrella added a striking splash of color to the frame, but the mountain wind was quite strong—every time we opened it, we had to weigh the handle down with stones, and it almost blew away several times during shooting.

To showcase Suzuran's gentle temperament, the makeup was intentionally kept low in color saturation, pairing a pale gold wig with light green contact lenses. Without overemphasizing the eyeliner, it blended more naturally with the natural mountain light. Most of the photographer's angles were low-angle shots, using cherry blossom branches in the foreground to create large-aperture blur, which highlighted the subject while the background rocks and hemp rope guardrails preserved a raw mountain texture. The photoshoot took nearly three hours, switching between several poses along the way—including sitting on the wooden steps, leaning against the railings, and standing on the gravel path. My favorite shots are the ones looking back on the stairs, where sunlight filtered through the gaps in the flowers onto my face, giving my features a nicely three-dimensional look.

However, the hardest part was carrying the props. Going up the mountain, I carried the umbrella in one hand and the staff in the other, while having to be careful not to rub the fluff on the tails. Shooting this kind of outdoor cosplay photoshoot really tests one's patience and stamina, but seeing the final images with their intertwined pink-and-white tones and the character's gentle yet steadfast feeling makes all the effort worth it. Suzuran naturally possesses healing and protective qualities, and placing the setting on a cherry-blossom-covered slope fully elevated the character's vibe. I hope this photoset brings everyone that tranquil, calm warmth of springtime.
