[Sakuya Izayoi Cosplay] Touhou Project—The Silver-Haired Chief Maid Under Cool-Toned Light and Shadow

Having tried Sakuya in various styles, this shooting experience was quite interesting. Differentiating from the previous routes of being purely cute or purely dashing, this time focused more on utilizing cool-toned light and shadow and crisp props to present the character's special temperament. The shooting location was at the Xiamen Fliport Portman Seven Stars Bay Hotel. The vast indoor space and classical decor of the hotel were indeed a huge plus, especially the area in the first-floor lobby with a transparent reflective floor, which is highly suitable for capturing cold, harsh, yet textured effects.

For the makeup and styling, the silver-white wig was braided into classic three-strand braids, paired with cool-toned blue colored contacts—a piercing gaze was the key. As for the maid outfit, this time we chose a white, blue, and black three-color combination. The off-shoulder top combined with layered white ruffles, paired with a dark blue and black waist-cinching corset, beautifully sculpted a compact body shape. The metal chains at the waist, cyan-green bow decorations, black fishnet stockings, and knee-high high-heeled boots all enhanced the layering of the costume. The props used were silver flying knives; biting them in the mouth or flipping them in the hands, these dangerous props combined with the silver-haired maid outfit made the character's other side stand out remarkably. Putting on the entire outfit was actually quite tedious, especially adjusting the corset and securing those accessories, but for the final photo results, these preparations were absolutely essential.

During the shoot this time, the photographer '灬XiaoChi' provided plenty of room for creative expression. For the lighting, they used relatively harsh, cool-toned spotlights combined with a dimmer environment, making the cast light feel highly cinematic. When shooting on the reflective floor, because the floor was exceptionally bright, we had to pay special attention to the character's positioning and the incident angle of the light, ensuring that the mirror reflection was clear and complete without any redundant stray light disrupting the frame. Multiple poses were changed during the shoot; initially, I sat on a gorgeous, vintage French accent chair, a posture that required adjusting the angle of the boots just right to make the leg lines look elongated while keeping the upper body elegant. Subsequently, I also made various attempts at kneeling on one knee, crouching in a combat stance, and standing. When shooting dynamic combat movements, special care was needed to prevent the skirt hem and cuffs from blocking the flying knives in hand, while ensuring the gaze looked directly into the lens to convey that cold, crisp, and confident combat tension.

Because the character herself has a setting related to time manipulation, the time-stopping aura in the final photos was the feeling I wanted to focus on capturing this time. Walking around the hotel lobby constantly during the shooting process to find the best angles, and moving on the polished marble floor in high-heeled boots, was actually a major test of balance. However, seeing these highly dramatic, cool-toned final photos in the end made me feel instantly that all the hard work was completely worth it. During post-processing color grading, the surroundings were intentionally darkened to preserve the contrast between cool white and dark blue, highlighting the character's highlights against the dim backdrop. The numerous details and final photo effects of this shoot shattered my impressions of Sakuya's inherent character image, making it a very special attempt and breakthrough.
