[Ganyu Cosplay] Outfit Details and Shooting Record of the Liyue Qixing Secretary from Genshin Impact

This character look shoot mainly revolved around restoring Ganyu's character traits from Genshin Impact in terms of outfit and makeup. When receiving the costume, my first impression was that the blue-and-white sleeveless short cheongsam design fit the character's disposition perfectly. The overall proportions of the black undershirt paired with black tights needed careful adjustment—especially the long blue tassels and zigzag edging hanging at the side of the waist, which add a sense of dynamic motion during movement and posing.

A challenging part of the headpiece was the pair of curved red horns. To ensure stability and a natural look, small fixing clips were used so that large movements wouldn't affect their shape. The light blue hair was layered and cut, with bangs and a center-parted design that, together with the makeup, focused visual attention on facial contours. For makeup, I opted for a cool-toned, elegant approach this time, foregoing heavy eyeshadow in favor of soft color transitions to emphasize eyelashes and aegyo sal, paired with a clean blush base to keep the overall look fresh and natural.

Regarding the phrase \"who customized this standing posture\" mentioned in the post, the pose design this time was mostly guided and communicated on-site by photographer @A Mu. The pose in the first photo is a static display with the right arm blocking across the front, gazing directly into the camera lens to highlight the waistline and neck lines while adding layers with the flowing cuffs and gloves. The second photo opens up both arms, appearing relatively more relaxed. In practice, however, we preferred the composition of the first photo because it visually elongates the silhouette, and when wearing this costume with tassel and ribbon details, this posture presents the garment's structure better.

This studio shoot utilized a clean blue-and-white gradient background. Such a pure backdrop really tests the performer's grasp of the character's disposition. Under the lights, the texture of the white top, the sheen of the black tights, and the patent leather reflections of the high heels were all clearly captured on camera. The whole shooting process went very smoothly; @A Mu controlled the pace wonderfully while guiding poses, instantly re-metering light with every slight adjustment of posture or arm angle. Though this standing pose shoot looks easy, maintaining balance while controlling subtle facial expressions to avoid stiffness actually takes effort.

My favorite element in the entire look is the combination of the waist tassels and gloves. The tassels add a graceful drape when still, while the white coverage of the gloves creates a striking color contrast against the black tights. Coupled with the red curved horns as a highlight, the color composition has contrast without looking cluttered. Between shoots, I also chatted with other fans about makeup insights for this look, such as curling the edges of the bangs outward a bit more, or replacing the tassel material with lighter acrylic or gauze for a better effect. These are all valuable insights accumulated for future Cosplay sharing.

Overall, the process from styling to the final output was a delightful experience. Bringing a 2D character into reality requires considering real-world physical constraints, like fabric creases and boundaries during movement, but the final portrait set reached the expectations in my heart regarding accuracy. Photography itself is about capturing that most suitable moment for the character, and working with the photographer made these moments exceptionally vivid, giving me clearer direction for future shoot plans.
