Today I finally sorted out this set of Megumi Kato Cosplay photos from our Spring outdoor photoshoot. This shoot was actually planned for quite a while—from costume tailoring and wig styling/trimming to fine-tuning makeup nuances, every step was taken to stay as faithful as possible to the canon setting. The weather on the day of the shoot was fantastic, with gentle sunlight contrasting completely with the warm yellow illumination at night, allowing me to experience two distinct photography styles in a single day.
Let's start with this outfit. The plush pink beret paired with a floral hair accessory on the left immediately brings out that sweet, girl-next-door charm. The neckline features a light pink pointed collar accented with dark purple cord lacing and a star pendant, adding an exquisite touch of delicacy. The upper body's pale pink dress is detailed with light violet piping and white lace accents; for visual presentation, I secured it with clear straps and halter ribbons, draping an expansive sheer red tulle overlay across it. The skirt consists of a white satin lining layered with pink tulle, creating a lovely sense of movement when walking. On my legs, I wore White stockings paired with pink platform heels, whose straps and bows matched the overall aesthetic impeccably.
During the shoot, I carried a bouquet of white roses as a prop, along with a white plush bunny doll wearing blue-and-white plaid clothes. We chose a staircase with European architecture and carved wrought-iron railings for the location. During the daytime, I sat on the stairs cradling the bouquet in both hands or gently touching my cheek with my fingertips, aiming for a naturally relaxed demeanor. Come evening, the architectural lights in the background illuminated, creating gorgeous warm bokeh circles. Standing beside the railing, making heart gestures with both hands, or raising a fist in cheer, the red sheer gauze drifted in the night breeze, striking a vibrant contrast with the ambient lights.
As a cosplayer, portraying a character is never just about putting on a costume and snapping a few photos. From understanding their personality and designing gestures and expressions to collaborating with the photographer on camera angles and lighting, the entire process requires immense communication and exploration. In this series, I hoped to convey a gentle, tranquil, and slightly spirited atmosphere. In terms of posing, I kept my body lines stretched and fluid, paying special attention to leg placement when seated, utilizing the visual elongating effect of the White stockings to enrich the composition.
September 23 marks Megumi Kato's birthday, and publishing this set right in time for this special day feels like destiny—Happy Birthday Megumi Kato 0923! Looking back, that day in spring was my fateful encounter with destiny. Between takes, sitting on the steps watching the distant lights, time felt like it was slowing down. Though the preparation was exhausting, seeing the final photos made every effort worthwhile. I hope you all love this photoshoot blending spring and night.
