This Rimuru cosplay is a try that I'm quite satisfied with. Although the original Rimuru usually has a cuter vibe, I've always wanted to recreate that coldness and tranquility unique to the King of Monsters. Therefore, I chose a cool blue palette for the overall look, intentionally lowering the saturation from the wig's luster to the blending of the eyeshadow. For the wig this time, I specifically did a fluffy, layered treatment and repeatedly adjusted the length of the bangs, hoping to match that casual yet highly recognizable hair flow to perfect this Anime cosplay look. In terms of the costume, this deep blue overcoat paired with a white fluffy collar brings the texture as close as possible to a winter or late-night atmosphere, accented by dark fluffy details on the cuffs. The prop used is this katana with a golden handguard; holding it naturally brings out the composure of the character as Great Sage and Demon Lord.
During the shoot, I didn't intentionally strike many exaggerated poses, but preferred this half-crouching, sideways, or direct-gaze state. Because Rimuru's inherent temperament carries a detachment beyond ordinary people, it doesn't require forced expressions; a subtle gaze and downward eyeliner can perfectly convey the necessary presence. I put a lot of effort into the makeup, especially the eye makeup, using light blue lines to outline the corners of the eyes, paired with grayish-brown colored contacts to make the gaze look deep and calm, achieving the exact cool-toned makeup look I wanted. The lip color chosen was deep brownish-red, forming a subtle contrast with the overall cool tones so the face wouldn't completely blend into the background.
The location for this shoot was selected in a rather modern commercial building corridor. I thought it might feel disconnected from the character at first, but surprisingly, this cool gray-toned environment beautifully accentuated the character's cool-toned outfit. Combined with the overhead light reflections, the character's silhouette became very distinct. Actually, every time I do Rimuru, I re-examine the core of this character. He has both a gentle side and a decisive, sharp side, and I hope to balance these two traits in the photos. In post-processing, I didn't over-edit either, focusing more on preserving real skin textures and light-and-shadow transitions. After all, even though the character is a slime, having a sense of realism in human form makes it more charming. I spent a lot of time on the composition and angles for this set, trying my best to keep the character as a stable visual center in the frame, while the blade and line of sight create a sense of extension, adding tension to the image. I hope everyone can see my dedication to this character, and fellow enthusiasts are welcome to exchange ideas about wig styling or makeup in this Cosplay photography session.
