[Shenhe cosplay] Chivalric Spirit and Cool-Toned Light and Shadow in Front of Jingxi Pavilion

Standing under the wooden plaque of Jingxi Pavilion, I looked down at the navy, black, and white outfit, thinking to myself that this was today's main highlight. Beyond the unique ornaments on the wig and the cyan-blue accents, what gave me the most confidence about this attire was its crisp, clean overall silhouette. The upper body's deep navy and black palette features extensive gold-stamped patterns, and the halter cut allowed me to be bolder when trying different poses without constantly worrying about the collar shifting. Meanwhile, the wide-sleeved outer robe with white fur trim perfectly balanced the sharp brevity of the inner outfit, adding a touch of airy elegance. In truth, the original outfit in Genshin Impact has even more complex structural elements; in terms of detail, I strove to make the drape and layering clear and distinct, working hard to integrate many iconic symbols into the fabric and stitching.

The actual shoot was quite a test of patience. The Chinese-style shop where we shot had very soft lighting, with the storefront largely bathed in the warm orange glow of lanterns, meaning my cool-toned costume stood out prominently in the environment. The photographer @CorpseKing placed great emphasis on this warm-cool contrast, not only having me avoid the high-contrast direct noon sunlight, but also making full use of arches and natural frames for composition. Since he prefers letting me adjust my center of gravity naturally before pressing the shutter, in the photos you see, my left hand hangs naturally while my right hand holds a small custom prop. Although the prop isn't large, having a small item to balance my hands added a subtle touch of dynamic poise to my gestures. The poses were never forced into rigid angles, but aimed to convey an aura of being constantly ready for action or observing the surroundings.

Sharing a bit of "behind the scenes" with everyone: this off-the-shoulder top and short bottom look cool and light on the outside, but to craft the fur trim of the outer robe, the fabric was far heavier than expected. Walking around indoors required special attention to small details—a slight oversight could cause underarm wrinkles to bunch up, so I frequently had to stop and adjust the armholes and collar. Furthermore, while the black patent leather high heels added great texture and effectively elongated my lower body proportions, walking across quaint stone tiles and wooden thresholds required extreme care with every step, constantly adjusting foot pressure to maintain balance. Fortunately, the atmosphere on shooting day was very relaxed, with everyone discussing character Roleplay ideas, allowing us to smoothly capture many amazing final shots beyond my expectations.

Personally, I really love the first photo—the lighting isn't overly processed, and the hair has a subtle, natural fluttering motion. In such a quaint, traditional environment, recalling the line "Boundless is the mortal realm, as karma vanishes like smoke" instantly creates a poetic visual. We always strive to pursue external fidelity and character charm, but during actual shoots, minor hiccups like imperfect lighting or curled hems are often inevitable. Yet it is precisely these small imperfections that make up the authentic shooting experience. Today, being able to present this fusion of Chinese-style cosplay and fantasy charm within this cozy traditional shop feels like a wonderful experiment and balance.

The white and blue wig was actually quite difficult to style; before shooting, I specially trimmed the layers of hair to contour my face shape. With blue hair ornaments clipped on both sides, the facial contour and overall makeup looked exceptionally clean. I specifically chose a clear, lightweight base makeup and cool-toned blue eye shadow, pairing them with a nude pink lip color that didn't overpower the rest. This created a harmonious look on camera, avoiding an overly glamorous appearance from heavy eye or lip makeup, since Shenhe cosplay leans toward restraint and composure.

Looking at the decor details, Jingxi Pavilion's wooden structure perfectly aligns with the requirements of modern Chinese-style photography. The hanging fabric drapes feature natural folds and curves, and the photographer deliberately avoided background clutter, using depth of field to blur the tables, chairs, and displays behind me so that I popped out from the environment as the absolute visual focus. Many people might wonder about the practicality of this outfit, but in fact, it emphasizes crispness and chivalric spirit; the large expanse of dark navy paired with golden embroidered lines brings that unique texture to its peak.

Mid-shoot, I tried letting the hem fall naturally or fine-tuning it with my poses, occasionally letting the skirt flip open to reveal the blue lining inside, enriching the color dynamics and fluid motion in frame. The photographer was very experienced, constantly advising me to lower my center of gravity during coaching so I could maintain a relaxed poise. Although this shoot didn't feature massive weapon props or complex special effects, relying solely on the understated warm yellow lighting contrasted with the cool elegance of the outfit materials was more than enough to convey the charm of this styling.

After finishing those two photos I was most satisfied with, looking back at the screen showed me that this combination of white and blue is indeed timeless. The technique of placing a "cool-toned character against a warm-toned background" truly added so much flavor to this photo set. I also tried my best to express that feeling of "mortal troubles fading into smoke" through my eyes, avoiding a frivolous gaze and instead striving for a sense of quiet depth and experience. Wearing this attire naturally instills a sense of purpose. While every cosplayer invests energy into costume accuracy, I believe finding a fitting location along with matching lighting helps us bring out the character's ambiance to perfection.
