[Honkai: Star Rail cosplay] Tianfu Red Street Record: Our Duo cosplay Outdoor Moments

Recording this Honkai: Star Rail cosplay outdoor shoot directly on the streets of Tianfu Red, our sibling duo officially hit the pavement. For today's Outdoor photography, we didn't deliberately seek out an elaborate studio set, choosing instead the vibrant, everyday neighborhood around Chengdu's Tianfu Red. In the frame, the left features breezy pink short hair paired with a fluffy white wrap-coat, while the right showcases silver-white textured short hair topped with matching fluffy ears on an Animal ear wig—complemented by our heavy armor featuring gold-and-white accents and black leather gloves. Walking down the street together certainly turned heads.

Choosing Tianfu Red for this outdoor location was largely due to its rich, lively human atmosphere. Strolling shoppers, elders, and passing kids would often pause at street corners to take a second look. For us who love cosplaying, being the center of casual attention from passersby is actually a wonderful, unique experience. People recognize that you're portraying fantasy-inspired characters; even if they might not know every exact name, they appreciate the styling as cool and distinctive. Framing our shoot around the "Licun Siblings" Duo cosplay concept also led us to focus heavily on brother-sister body language and subtle eye contact during interactions.

During prep for this shoot, the armor and leather neck choker on the right-hand character required significant effort. Setting aside how heavy the gold-and-white pauldrons were, wearing a black choker and leather gloves in outdoor weather nearing 30°C was a major test of endurance and stamina. Yet the essence of cosplay is capturing a character's true spirit; even with sweat beading along the wig line, seeing how the captured shots turned out made every bit of effort worthwhile. The silver Animal ear wig was trickier to manage than expected, as keeping that fluffy, voluminous texture without letting it go flat against the scalp required constant attention. Along with the large realistic beast ears atop, we had to ensure their angles looked natural from every perspective.

Moving at our own shooting pace, we strolled and snapped photos around Tianfu Red, walking through the blocks several times and experimenting with various street corners. The best part of candid Outdoor photography immersed in pedestrian view is never knowing what the light will look like in the next second—a patch of tree shade filtering overhead, or a golden sunbeam catching the rim of the gilded armor. These spontaneous intersections of light and shadow often yield unexpected gems. The pink short-haired look emphasized gentleness and charm with its fluffy white coat, creating great warmth and approachability. Meanwhile, my silver-white hair and animal ears leaned cooler and sharper. This visual contrast of softness and strength was precisely the character dynamic we wanted to convey in this Duo cosplay.

When it came to street snapshots, we kept our state quite relaxed throughout. After all, the core of Outdoor photography is capturing authentic interaction with real environments, rather than sitting rigidly in a studio striking stiff poses. Our smiles and postures remained natural, seamlessly blending into this ordinary afternoon street. The dark camera-like prop held on the right added considerable flair, allowing that blend of rebellious, aloof, and innocent charm to shine through on camera.

Though a full day of shooting is exhausting, the sense of accomplishment upon seeing the final photos is irreplaceable. Doing what you love and striving to present it at its best is the greatest happiness. Without heavy filter manipulation, the makeup remained clean and fresh, perfectly matching the anime aesthetic of Honkai: Star Rail.
