[Genshin Impact Style] Cool Aloof Swordsman in Black and White Color-Blocking

For this black-and-white base look, I ultimately chose to pair it with a Dark Industrial Style scene. The photoshoot was completed in an abandoned steel-structure warehouse; the location was actually very dusty, but it precisely helped achieve a battle atmosphere with a touch of destructiveness.

Regarding the costume, this black slim-fit coat used a lustrous velvet fabric, which had a great texture in person. The hollow-out cutouts at the chest and collar, combined with crisscross laces, gave the dull black a somewhat translucent feel so it wouldn't look too rigid. The silver embroidery parts were custom made using machine embroidery; in a dark venue environment paired with a reflector, it can refract a cool subtle glow, which is the soul of this entire ensemble. The large flipped cuffs revealing the white lining is a design detail I personally love—adding a splash of bright white to that pure black base creates a strong visual contrast and echoes the black-and-white interwoven anime style mentioned.

For the head styling, the short silver hair was fitted with a custom large black bow, and the hair strands were trimmed with distinct layering. Paired with blue contact lenses for Silver hair and blue eyes, under side lighting and rim light positions, the hair contour light was struck very clearly and brightly, where crisp lines made the character's temperament feel even cooler and more aloof. I deliberately made the base makeup very clear and translucent, which, combined with the cool light sources on site, nicely restored that porcelain pale skin feeling.

In the lower body outfit, the subtle pattern details on the Thigh-high stockings were actually not easy to capture, but I intentionally adjusted my posture and center of gravity on site so the light could hit the texture on the side of my leg just right. The high slit design of the coat naturally elongated lower limb proportions when moving or performing battle poses, while seamlessly connecting with the over-the-knee Thigh-high stockings for great visual extension.

The first photo is a dynamic moment captured from a low angle, with the sword slung diagonally across the back, maxing out the atmospheric feel alongside rising dust particles. The static standing pose in the second photo fully displays the front silhouette of the costume and the detailed layering of the silver thread embroidery. During shooting, to recreate that post-battle realism, we used heavy rim light and side light—lighting up the subject's edges while keeping the face under cool light, forming an extreme contrast of light and dark, that so-called "world of black and white."

Although this look was built attempting to match the worldview and style tone of Genshin Impact, I personally mixed in a lot of classic Gothic and battle elements in the styling. From the texture of the wig to the cinched waist of the outfit, down to the matching gloves and tall boots, every single detail went through repeated tweaking. The shooting process was actually physically exhausting because we had to repeatedly kick up dust and swing the long sword in a dusty environment, retaking many camera angles several times. But seeing the resolute, cool, and aloof demeanor in the final photos made all the hard work feel completely worth it. Post-processing didn't involve much skin smoothing or over-retouching, preserving the original texture and environmental grittiness to give this set more authentic combat marks. In this anime space leaning toward cool white tones, I hope to fully convey this cool, badass atmosphere.
