This photo set comes from a previous studio shoot featuring a red and black military-style concept. I modeled for this shoot, with the theme centered on the Girl Tyrant. The wig is shoulder-length short black hair, subtly styled with a windswept look to give it a sharper, fiercer edge. The outfit consists of a Black and red uniform featuring a short-sleeved black top with a red sailor-style collar and a tie patterned with a white soaring bird motif. To elevate the overall refinement, golden buttons and a shield-shaped badge were added, while the crimson cape and fringed epaulets on the shoulders lent rich dimension to the look. The headwear is a custom-made black military cap, detailed with gold-and-red stripes and a metal crest.
Regarding props, that greatsword took quite some time to track down. It features a golden hilt, intricate relief carvings along the blade, and is wound with beaded chains and a cross pendant to heighten the fantasy aesthetic. To complement this theme, I deliberately selected over-the-knee Black stockings and vintage leather shoes with metal buckles, ensuring the leg lines looked exceptionally striking in seated postures.
The shoot was primarily executed in front of a crimson backdrop. To bring out a chilly and imposing presence, the gaffer deployed lighting from multiple angles; the ambient red light struck the metal props and glossy leather shoes, yielding stunning specular highlights. For pose choreography, we covered standing, sitting, sword-wielding, and crouching stances. Personally, I prefer the frames seated on the desk with legs crossed—a pose perfectly suited for showcasing the nuances of the uniform, stockings, and leather shoes, where a slightly disdainful, commanding gaze instantly loaded the composition with visual tension. Crouching atop the desk actually tested core stability: the sword had substantial heft, requiring engaged arms, waist, and abs to maintain balance during shots.
For makeup, to amplify that commanding oppression, the eye makeup was deepened with cooler tones to accentuate the razor-sharp intensity of the gaze. In this kind of uniform photography, garment tailoring and accessory details are paramount. Prop weight directly impacts movement fluidity, so it is essential to test how the sword feels in hand beforehand and adjust the drape of the cape to prevent it from obscuring the face or breaking continuity. In terms of facial expression, I kept my chin slightly tucked while staring directly into the lens. The completed 9-grid radiates an intense atmosphere; the bold red-and-black contrast delivers tremendous visual impact, fully hitting the cold tyrant image I had envisioned. Model: @HuMiaomiao.
