Here are the convention photos from the Anime-style photography doujin fan-creation festival, finally documenting this Gymnastics uniform Marie cosplay from Blue Archive. Although the studio environment was relatively simple, the pure white background coupled with soft lighting perfectly highlighted the clean color coordination of the character's outfit and that youthful campus vitality.
A lot of thought went into recreating the details of this Gymnastics uniform. The top is a white short-sleeved sports T-shirt with black piping on the collar and cuffs, and a dark logo and letters printed on the left chest. Paired with an orange lanyard and ID card, the overall sporty feel immediately stands out. The lower half is a pair of dark blue sports shorts adorned with yellow and white stripes on the sides. This blue, white, and yellow color scheme is a very iconic visual language in Blue Archive. And the soul of the accessories, of course, is that pair of clean White stockings and dark blue thick-soled lace-up sneakers. They not only visually elongate the proportions but also perfectly echo the athletic girl setting.
The completeness of the head styling is also crucial. The orange-gold wig was naturally trimmed and styled, and the bangs on both sides beautifully frame the face. The white headband features fluffy animal ears, with small white flowers and green leaves adorning the base of the ears—this gentle yet whimsical detail is very eye-catching. The semi-transparent yellow star-shaped halo floating above the head is the most recognizable element of the entire look, and reproducing it required a lot of effort in prop making.
During the studio shoot, we tried several different poses to break the monotony of the pure white background. Sitting with the water bottle on the ground looks very casual; squatting and pointing at the water bottle creates an interactive atmosphere of wanting to hand you water or simply resting; while kneeling on one knee and holding up the water emphasizes capturing the dynamic feel after exercising. These poses test body language, and Bumian, as the model, perfectly expressed Marie's energetic and lively spirit, always wanting to cheer Sensei on. Just as she said in her post, "Sensei, Marie will always cheer for you!", I could feel her empathy with the character through the lens.
Regarding the costume's material, the fabric of this sports outfit is breathable and holds its shape well. It doesn't produce excessive reflection under the strong studio lights and is convenient for various large movements. To balance the sporty feel with the delicate beauty of a female character, the selection of the White stockings underwent multiple comparisons to avoid cheap-looking reflections. The final matte material chosen looks more natural and soft on camera. Special attention was also paid to the interplay of light and shadow during the shoot, ensuring that the tension of the leg lines is fully displayed when the character squats, without any weird shadows falling on the face or body.
This was truly a fulfilling shoot. With no complex scene interference, the work was built purely on the meticulous refinement of the character's costume and the model's exquisite expressive power. For me, shooting such a basic yet highly detailed cosplay well is not only a technical test but also a tribute to the character's setting. Marie's underlying personality in Blue Archive—quietly accompanying, gentle yet resilient—is beautifully externalized visually in this simple Gymnastics uniform. I hope these released convention photos can let everyone feel the character's exclusive youthful aura.
