On July 16 in Huizhou, the weather was muggy as ever, yet the moment I stepped into the studio and saw the set, most of the exhaustion melted away. Today, appearing as Zili, cosplaying Sandrone Alice from Genshin Impact, I wrapped a wonderfully challenging shoot in this sweet-scented kitchen.
This Sandrone Alice outfit is packed with elaborate nuances. To convey that signature mix of elegance and whimsical quirkiness unique to this Genshin Impact character, I applied a generous wash of blush across my cheeks paired with vivid cyan contact lenses, striving for that delicate porcelain finish reminiscent of an anime doll. The headpiece was the showstopper: white petal bases paired with black bunny-ear ornaments required several bobby pins and styling clips to anchor its substantial volume securely, while the wig was smoothed and styled beforehand to prevent flyaways on camera. The black chest bow with heart accents, alongside the blue-and-white plaid flared skirt and playing-card motif apron, all worked to faithfully recreate the character's iconic elements.
During shooting, the most delightful highlight was holding that wooden cat-shaped cutting board. Since I rarely shoot with such down-to-earth, domestic props, I was initially unsure how to pose, but guided by the photographer, I imagined myself preparing an affectionate breakfast or secretly brewing kitchen magic. In the first shot, I waved with one hand as if greeting the viewer beyond the lens, resting the cat cutting board in the other to maximize the cozy ambiance. The second shot captured the candid moment of adjusting my headpiece—the photographer caught my genuine expression of pure glee, almost bursting into excited laughter. Posing can be genuinely tiring—especially with tiered ruffled sleeves that restrict broad arm gestures—yet this blend of physical fatigue and sheer fun embodies the true allure of cosplay.
Collaborating with a Huizhou female photographer made the entire session run smoothly. We aligned beforehand on the set's color palette and lighting, utilizing soft natural light filtering through the window alongside warm interior lamps to craft that fluffy, endearing Japanese aesthetic. Avoiding hollow, heavy filters, we preserved the fabric textures and natural translucency of the skin. The Genshin Impact universe is grand, and Sandrone Alice carries a distinctive internal contrast; bringing her to life through my personal lens was deeply rewarding. From makeup and wardrobe to stepping before the camera, every shutter click brought me closer to the character. I hope these warm, sweet frames convey that heartfelt passion.
Cosplaying characters from Genshin Impact tests more than just elaborate costumes—it challenges one to capture internal emotional beats. Sandrone Alice demands both sweetness and a sense of poise and control. Before the lens, I continually refined my posture and facial expressions, striving to reveal deeper traits beneath the adorable exterior. The blue-and-white palette looked exquisitely gentle in warm light, while the black waistband cinched the silhouette, preventing bulkiness. The photographer offered brilliant framing advice, such as using background blinds for dappled depth. The cat cutting board served as both a prop and a visual anchor directing focus to the center. While the photos appear lighthearted, they represent relentless perfectionism over every detail. That immersive creative journey made every ounce of effort entirely worth it in Anime-style photography.
