[Sumi Serina Cosplay] Christmas Eve Outdoor Night-Scene Atmospheric Photoshoot Showcase

The returned prints from the Christmas Eve photoshoot have been successfully received, and the ambiance after the lights turn on at night definitely fits the cozy warmth of the holiday much better than during the daytime. From settling the plan to on-site location scouting, and finally to the official shoot, the entire process actually demanded a lot of patience to coordinate with the night lighting. The shooting location this time was chosen at an outdoor tea and coffee cafe near Haizhu Wetland Park. The outdoor wooden fences and branches were covered with a thick layer of artificial snow, which, paired with warm light strings, perfectly forged the sensation of a winter snowy night.

The apparel is primarily a red-and-white Christmas outfit, where the fluffy trim on the neckline and skirt hemline enhances the visual warmth of winter. The pink hair has excellent texture under the night flashlights, and that iconic golden halo ornament on the crown is the absolute soul of the look—requiring repeated adjustments of the clips during the shoot to ensure it stayed securely in place. Pairing black tights and white boots with this costume not only visually elongates the leg lines but also highlights the character's overall image beautifully. Although the temperature was quite low during the shoot, I still had to maintain an upright and elegant posture as much as possible for the sake of the frame effects.

The photography props were paired with a green ribbon gift box and a golden handbell. The gloss of the bell was superb, forming a wonderful echo with the warm bokeh circles blurred out in the background. When composing, the photographer utilized the wooden fences and window panes as foregrounds—especially the framing through the wooden cabin window pane, coupled with the bokeh on the glass, generating a sense of looking through a window on a winter night. This kind of framing composition not only adds layers to the image but also makes the character's movements appear much more natural.

The post-processing retouching direction leaned toward preserving details and appropriately controlling the color temperature to ensure the skin tone remained naturally rosy under warm light without losing texture from over-smoothing. The color gradients of the pink hair were also strongly reinforced, enabling the hair rim light to be clearly displayed in dark areas. The outdoor wind on winter nights in Guangzhou isn't too strong, but one still had to overcome the temperature difference to persevere with the shoot. I hope when everyone sees this set of Christmas Eve themed final prints, you can feel that touch of holiday comfort belonging to a winter night.
