[Xiao Wu cosplay] Soul Land: Arrival of Xiao Wu's Divine Outfit, the Sacrifice Vow

The moment I put on this pink Xiao Wu's Divine Outfit, I felt a bit nervous at first because the outfit's details are far more complex than they look from a distance. The silver laser trim, the gem embellishments on the chest, and the light tulle at the hem placed high demands on posture and poise. To recreate the airy lightness of Xiao Wu's Divine Outfit from Soul Land, we added multi-layered splicing inside the skirt hem so it drapes naturally when sitting or raising a leg instead of stacking stiffly.

For this shoot, we selected large white drapery drapes and pale pink floral backdrops. Overall lighting focused on soft light, complemented by side-backlight outlining the silhouette. The core of this makeup and styling actually lay in the eye makeup: unlike daily makeup, I used orange-pink eyeshadow to blend around the eye sockets to echo the pink bunny ears and the overall tone of the dress. Handling the wig was painful yet fun—it was very thick and long, so to create the wind-blown floating effect seen in the photos, we used two large fans on set. Especially for full-body shots, controlling the hair trajectory while ensuring the wind-blown skirt didn't entangle with high heels was quite a challenge.

The caption mentioned, "I am willing to sacrifice my life, I am willing to integrate my soul with his." While cosplaying Xiao Wu, I repeatedly felt the weight behind this line. Although this Divine Outfit is in a gentle pink tone, Xiao Wu's inner self is filled with determination and toughness. To present this striking contrast in the visuals, I specifically chose a composition stepping on stairs and leaning forward slightly for the pose in photo two. This movement heavily tests core strength because you need to keep your upper body erect to support the chest armor structure while stabilizing your center of gravity on high heels with your toes.

Speaking of post-processing, which is the cos post-editing part mentioned in the post, it is an indispensable step. Many raw photos are limited by on-site environments and lighting dead spots, making it hard to directly see the metallic sheen of the Divine Outfit. In post-processing, I emphasized the reflective shine of the silver edges and gems while increasing the transparency of the veil backdrop, making the white veil look as if enveloped in a celestial glow. Of course, I remained restrained in skin retouching, hoping to preserve a realistic makeup texture and aim for a dreamy CG effect bridging 2D and reality.

My favorite part of the entire outfit remains the combination featuring White tights and high heels; the high-slit design elongates leg lines just right, forming a wonderful color extension alongside the pink-soled high heels. During the shoot, the photographer constantly reminded me to pay attention to posture, as with this opulent style, hunching over or placing arms unnaturally immediately ruins the sacred feel. The shoot lasted several hours; although my legs ached from standing in high heels, seeing the final photos made all the messiness of wind-tangled hair and constant skirt adjustments feel entirely worthwhile.

This set should count as my most fulfilling Xiao Wu cosplay work recently; both the craftsmanship of the costume and the dreamy ambiance of the setup elevated this cosplay experience to the max. I also poured my understanding and respect for this character into these photos. As an endeavor, I hope to accurately tell the story of this pink gentleness and inner strength through the language of the lens.
