This finished set of Convention photo captures of the Yingying Ji Stardrop skin from NARAKA: BLADEPOINT, from early preparation to studio realization, truly tested our patience. The costume design of Yingying Ji Stardrop is extraordinarily multi-layered: the outer layer features light, semi-sheer lace, while the inner lining pairs peach-pink silk, accompanied by a snug corset structure that demanded substantial time to adjust when putting on. The silver chains and pearl embellishments on the garment are exceptionally dense; to ensure their graceful drape before the camera, smoothing them out strand by strand was essential each time, terrified that the slightest force might snag the delicate lace. The asymmetrical high-slit hem is the visual centerpiece, but it also required constant mindfulness of the fabric flow while posing—allowing the textile to drift naturally while accentuating leg contours, which demanded substantial core control.
The wig was another focal point of this look. The silver-white twin-tails were nearly floor-length with tremendous volume; to ensure the hair strands looked light and lustrous when floating in the air, copious amounts of styling hairspray were applied. During the shoot, capturing natural billowing moments required staff assisting on the side to toss the hair. In makeup, to complement the character's aloof demeanor, blue-purple contact lenses were chosen, and the eye makeup was layered to enhance contour depth. Combined with a cool-toned porcelain complexion, the face retained striking three-dimensionality even under intense overhead spotlights.
Because we were shooting in a dark-toned studio, we combined spotlights with side rim lighting. This lighting setup best highlighted the subtle glittery textures across the outfit, as well as the luminous translucency of the massive white lace veil held in my hands. The embroidery on the skirt hem was distinctly defined under the chiaroscuro lighting. Stepping onto the circular platform in silver sequined high heels, maintaining an erect, poised posture was necessary to convey the character's commanding aura; shifting one leg slightly forward not only accentuated the high-slit design, but also anchored the visual focus onto the slender silhouette in this Zai Ji cosplay.
To draw the finished photos closer to the fantasy ambiance of the game, the background preserved a dark gray spatial depth, with floating particle effects added in post-production to prevent the composition from looking overly plain. From smoothing garment details to iteratively polishing poses, this Convention photo set of the Yingying Ji Stardrop skin explored a moodier, darker aesthetic distinct from everyday looks. Guided by the interplay of light and shadow, the material textures and silhouettes achieved our envisioned outcome in this cosplay shoot.
